  • Did you have an account at the linked address and then move it to another address and then close it or is it still live? this is what creates a linked address..... follow me? i.e. I have an account with HSBC and move houses, I complete a change of address form and carry on using hsbc - this creates a linked address until I close that account and move again.

so which address is showing as linked address then? there has to be a link! see above!!

I need to know the above before I can do a letter for you lol :rotfl:

OK all 3 addresses are listed as linked. I had RBS account at first address, moved to 2nd address, then account was closed in c. 2001 (by RBS, not me - bad times & bad spending at Uni :o). Had Smile savings a/c opened at 2nd address, moved from there to here & a/c still live - I guess that would create a link?
Does that mean that if I'm still here in 20 years (prob. will be the way my love life isn't going) then Equifax will still link me to 2nd address because I had account there that is still live? Ridiculous!! God they make me cross

You got it, thats exactly what will happen unless all accounts from the old addresses are closed. If so and there is no financial link to them, i.e. after 6yrs of closure then you can get the links removed. Lenders will ignore them if nothing bad shows up though so don;t worry too much.....

Thats right - see the links created now?

    1. address 3 (rbs account) then you moved to
    2. address 2 (rbs account active then closed so link to address 3 created) - smile account is live and you took this with you when you moved to
    3. address 1 (smile account is live) and this created a link between address 2 (smile) and smile had linked you to address 3 from the RBS link at address 2 which means that address 1 will have all 3 addresses showing.

Make sense? It did to me until I tried to type it out - LOL - confusing or what!
