Hi this is only my second post so thought I would introduce myself- in 2003 I was made redundant and as hard as I tried to keep up to date, slowly I got behind with payments and as a result now have 4 defaults on my account. I realise these are due to fall off my file next year.

I also have a CCJ - now satisfied from rent arrears with the council - long story, joint tenancy - I notified the council I was leaving, but even though the other person stayed in the tenancy - then never paid - I ended up with the debt.

In Jan 08 I got a Vanquis Visa Card - £250 then 4 months later £500, then after 9 months £750 and after 12 months I was given £1500 and a Gold Card.

I have paid the whole balance every month - although I went overlimit by 27p once and incurred the £12 fee - which is entirely fair. In March 09 I was accepted for a Aqua Mastercard - £250 limit again set up for whole balance payment monthly.

In April I applied for a Full Current Account and to my surprise I was accepted with Halifax (Reward Account) with £250 Overdraft

Got a JDWilliams account in Feb - Limit now £325

Lots of green (0) on my file now. I am starting to feel part of society again.

Thanks guys - I may not have participated but feel I know you all well after reading for so long.

    Rob

    Cool, well done Robbo :T

i know what you mean about the green 0's. Looks very good on the old credit reports :D.

Hi guys Just wanted to ask a quick quiestion

When you apply for a first direct account you can select a credit card to apply to within the same application online. I just wanted to know if 1 or 2 credit searches are done?

Has anyone obtained one with advers information on their CF?

1 i believe. If its the same rules as HSBC as I work for HSBC, when you do an application online, that 1 credit search will generate a score which will then determine what products HSBC/FIRST DIRECT are happy to offer you with. The score is done before they can ever say they can offer your a credit card with such and such a limit!

Does having a HSBC current account help in making their decision. I have heard somthink about an internal behavioral score?

Thinking of applying for a Halifax Rewards Account. Do they give instant decisions online and do they tell you online if you are eligible for an overdraft?

Most of the time Halifax give you a decision online but I would ring them. I did when I applied for my account and was given an immediate decision which included an overdraft.

Their application line is closed now. Not sure if its worth applying or not. I could just make a few £500 transfers to the account and back to get £5 a month. It's another search, and I already have HSBC and Lloyds. HSBC I don't use anymore. Only keeping it open for green 0's.
