    Got a letter from the custom relations manager at First Direct today. She just apologized for any inconvenience regarding my recent application. She said she's listened to all of the calls that went on between me and their staff and quoted some of the things I said in the conversation (Seemed a little 'you're wrong, we're right'). It also said you can reapply on or after 6th August, 6 months from my first application, whereas I was told on the phone by the manager that I can only apply 6 months after my most recent application, so both of the statements clash again. They did say 'I'm happy that your family bank with us (I mentioned this on the phone) and that I could join First Direct in the future.

    Overall, I knew I had to wait 6 months, but I thought I'd try my luck, and got caught out. Quite happy with First Directs customer service though. While they seem a little 'up themselves' in the letter, how many banks send personalized letters to non-customers who have had a problem with them. Quite happy with the people on the phone as well. They seem a great bank for customers service.

    I also phoned HSBC and asked to apply for an overdraft. I was told it's £25 to setup an overdraft (even though I wanted one for £100). He said it was cheaper to apply for a credit card, as there's no fee and the APR is less, however I told him I'd already applied. He had a look, and said you'd applied 3 months ago, and you can reapply now as it's 3-6 months between applications. I said I'd rather just apply for an overdraft. They put me through to one of their financial services guys, who just explained that as I'd applied a few times in the last 6 months, he doesn't recommend reapplying due to the multiple searches damaging my credit rating. He also said why does my account show £1500 going through the account in Feb/March, and down to £400 in April+... I just said it's because I'm between part time and full time, but going back to full time next month (Which I am, as starting a new job). The real reason was because I'd moved everything to Lloyds TSB. :rotfl: He did say he'll do an application for me though if I like, but I though stuff it, don't really need an overdraft, I'm just applying for the sake of trying to get one, and can do without the £25 fee, so yer, I left it. :confused:

    I have heard of Cap 1 customers not getting an increase after 8 years!

    That's disappointing. I've been considering cancelling my Capital One card and focusing on my other cards. I don't see the point staying with a company if there is no future prospects and since I've never actually had an increase with them, I doubt they will give me one any time soon.

    On the bright side, they were the very first company to give me credit so I should be grateful in a way.

    Ask him what your internal / behaviour score is. NID has composed a list which I think he got from someone at HSBC or his friend at FD. It is like

    BS

    30 - 40 = Current account
    41 = 50 = CGC
    51 - 60 = O/D
    61 - 70 = CC

    The above is just an example, not the correct info.....
    Bank Accounts - Barlcays Premier[/B] - £1000 o/d, HSBC - £200 o/d- First Direct - £500
    Credit Cards - Barclaycard £2000 - Silver Card £1300 - Flybe £7500 - HSBC £1000 - First Direct £2500 First Direct Gold £3000

    Close it and re-apply in 6 months. They should then check the CRA's & use your internal score and hopefully give you a better limit.

    most do - those that offer online banking certainly do.

    people with the capital one classic or barclaycard intial cards do they offer online managment and paper free options ? I've tried to persuade my husband from applying for the more mainstream cards as i think he'll be declind and instead going for the classic inital type cards.

    Yes they do. You can opt into the paper free service through Capital One's online banking or through customer services.
