Years ago I furnished my home (when I split from EX hubbie) all from second hand furniture shops / kind donations from friends and family, and I even got some stuff (table and chairs) from the local tip!!

The only thing I got new was a mattress and this was as cheap as possible - from a local discount store.

Freecycle is amazing - there are times when I have had to get rid of perfectly good stuff simply cause I didnt know anyone who wanted it before freecycle. The things offered on there will amaze you, and the price is cheapest around (a.k.a. Free).:T

I really would do my utmost to buy a new mattress - and not skimp on it either. The mattress is more important then a flat screen tv. Nothing worse then waking up after a night tossing and turning on a crap mattress. A good mattress should last you a good 10 years ( or maybe more if well cared for) so think of it as an necessity and not a luxury - your back will thank you for it

If you offer to buy a new bed for the flat (chepo-ish) might your uncle let you take the much loved water bed with you? Just a thought.

I left home at 17 with nothing and had nothing but secondhand.. i'm now 39 and still have to rely on second hand, i don't like it but i have no choice... I'd love to have brand new, although i can say i saved up really hard and bought my cooker and fridge freezer about 2 years ago, and a new bed this year... even my sofa and tv is second hand it works, i don't need flashy flat screen widescreen.
Life is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?

theres a british heart foundation 2nd hand furniture shop in fareham and one in north end, i kitted out my first flat with a table and chairs, washing machine, fridge, reasonably large tv and a wardrobe for £190! when we moved to where we are now i got a 3 piece suite for £150 and my friend got herself a sofa for £75, so reasonably priced. and they dont take things in that are battered so anything they sell is in good condition.

I was slightly wary of the BHF in noth end, as my mum looked in there for a washing machi9ne and she opened the draw thingy and the door and it had mould all inside. As did the others lol.

We found some good places in the paper today, £550 a month for a 2 bedroom house with 2 receptions :)

Might view them at some point :D:D xx

Looking online i have found 3 houses that i

    Two are £595
And one is £575, they all are 2 bedroom houses.
One of them is 2 bedrooms 2 receptions.

And another one of them has an absolutly huge living room. And two double bedrooms with fitted wardrobes :D

I've requested details for them, so fingers crossed i'll be viewing them soon :D

Also they've been on the website for ages now (we were looking at house a few months ago) so hopefully no one takes it within the next month hehe xx
