I went to the stockport extra store earlier today. i noticed the bakugans on the shelf in a tub but there was no SEL. I buy these all the time and i know that they are around 3-5 pound so the fact that there was no SEL didnt bother me. I picked up various other toys and bits and bobs, paid at the self serve and to my horror it came to £163. I checked my receipt and noticed i had been charged £24.99 each for the backugans. I went to CS and she said i had clearly been over charged and called the manager. 2 managers arrived and they said that they cant dtd such a large amount and had the ring head office which is shut. I spent the best part of an hour arguing with them about dtd and they said the best they could do is to allow me to return them and give me a 25pound gift card for my trouble.
Take the gift card with a smile.
Your lucky to get that TBH, with no SEL it is hard to prove, and DTD is a T policy, not a legal requirement, so they do not have to give this. They could jsut offer to refund you and that is it.0 -

I got phones recently with a small DTD on them but one of the phones barely holds a charge and the quality of sound from the handset is dreadful. Can I take them back for an exchange to a similar value or can I only get a refund to the value minus DTD?
I've never worried about returns before but this is the first faulty item I've had with a DTD so concerned that I'll be trouted.
When I phoned up a store asking if I could return a faulty iPad without the receipt (I was trying to find out if T's had any way of tracking the purchase from the barcodes on the box) they said all I need to do was bring my credit/debit card statement along. So if you paid by card then use that as it won't detail the o/c0 -
Just so you know your rights, under the Sale of Goods Act, you can return an item within a reasonable time period if they are faulty etc.
Tesco are Legally obliged to offer you a repair, replacement or refund (which one they choose is up to them, not you) in your case they are offering a replacement.
They have no obligation to offer you a refund.
You have every right to ask for an exchange for a better product and pay the difference, but they do not have to allow you to do so.
As long as they offer you either an refund, repair, or replacement, they are not breaking any laws.
Sorry!
Also, if you take your sister's back for a refund/exchange, remember she will need some alternative proof of purchase if anything goes wrong with her iPad.
I will wait and see what response I get from Philip Clarke but I may suggest about an exchange for a better product and me paying the difference.
I would be returning my iPad in my box with her receipt. She doesn't need to go to T's if hers is faulty, she can take it to the Apple store and they know when it was purchased, how I don't know, but they do.0 -

Adrenalin, did you get the Lemon Meringue Pies?
One thing I found out today, whilst getting my £168 refund on the Bakugans, is that DTD costs need to come from somewhere. So with SEL errors, I guess they come stright out of the Branches bottom line, affecting bonuses somewhere I am sure.
However, with the Bakugan DTD, the CSA rang HO and was given a reference number. He said that other stores had already reported the error. So by quoting the reference number number which confirmed that it was a Head Office error, rather than an instore error, the Branch will be credited back with the value of the DTD, so it will not affect the branch.
Thats the way I see it anyway.
So it may be worth in the future, if you are having a problem with DTD is to casually say "last time it happened, the store rang head office for a reference number and they authorised the refund" just to jog the CSA/Managers memory that they obviously can do this. Of course you open yourself up to knowing the system, but I a sure that plenty of people know the system without using an internet forum.
And, of course, you can't do this with OOD SEL's, only with proper glitches like the bakugan today.
