Tesco misprices and discussion thread 11

Hi all,
Have been reading this thread for a while but never been able to contribute as my local seems to be on the ball...until today.
Picked up two straighteners and shavers with SEL from 23/08- both close to half- price. Charged full price.
CS at first would only refund, as 'the offer has ended'. When I insisted and referred to the policy board, they conceeded to JTD. I said that the policy clearly states 'if you were charged more than the price on the shelf, we give you double the difference'? But they insisted and eventually a manager (I think) showed up and spun the same yarn.
In the end I took it but told him that's not what their policy said, he apologised for the unclear wording and said he'd feed it through.
Once home, I phoned CS and told them - the young man said that as the price has changed back to full retail price and I still got them at the discounted one, I wasn't overcharged(!!)..
Now I don't think this is correct and want to pursue it as a matter of principle...have gotten a small DTD in the past under same circumstances and others here seem to get it for OOD SEL's, so how do they justify not following policy in this case?0 -

Get yourself to an express store. The cooked meats (buy 2 for £3) if you buy 2 per transaction only, it knocks £4 off hence free. Works on ham, crumbed ham and beef!!!
ALSO in express only, 4 x activia yoghuts knocks £3 off your shopping bill. Woohoo.
Thanks to the lovely friend of martins who told me this in the express store. Well done on your wine dtd this morning. You are a legend!!
Thanks for the post, I've got a couple of hams and yoghurts for free.0 -

Well technically yes they should honour their policy, but it is just that, a policy, it's not a right or law. They can and do refuse especially if they think you have intentionally bought knowing what would happen.
You mention you bought 2 sets of straighteners and "shavers". This will have not gone unnoticed by CS. It's best on bigger items to only buy one, however tempting as normally people will only buy one set of straighteners at a time.
Pursuing it further is up to you really, I don't know if you regularly get dtd in that store so are "known" or not but you may still come up against a brick wall or you might get a £10 giftcard as compensation.
Personally I'd cut my losses, move on and not be so obvious in future hth0
