    Hi all,

Have been reading this thread for a while but never been able to contribute as my local seems to be on the ball...until today.

Picked up two straighteners and shavers with SEL from 23/08- both close to half- price. Charged full price.

CS at first would only refund, as 'the offer has ended'. When I insisted and referred to the policy board, they conceeded to JTD. I said that the policy clearly states 'if you were charged more than the price on the shelf, we give you double the difference'? But they insisted and eventually a manager (I think) showed up and spun the same yarn.

In the end I took it but told him that's not what their policy said, he apologised for the unclear wording and said he'd feed it through.
Once home, I phoned CS and told them - the young man said that as the price has changed back to full retail price and I still got them at the discounted one, I wasn't overcharged(!!)..

Now I don't think this is correct and want to pursue it as a matter of principle...have gotten a small DTD in the past under same circumstances and others here seem to get it for OOD SEL's, so how do they justify not following policy in this case?

That's bull. That's how many of us on here have gotten stuff free - the SEL offer date has expired but the label has been left on the shelf and the item scans higher. Phone CS and keep phoning until you get someone who will agree. Just be generic when you phone and ask what the DTD policy is then once they tell you what you're expecting to hear, give them specifics.

I got a corker today. I was lied to point blank to my face when I explained that it shouldn't be JTD but DTD. "We only give DTD if the label matches the product". In their little world, the label was wrong but as it was sitting at that product they'd refund me the difference. It took me to show the matching description & barcode before they agreed to call a manager who then had to 'go away' to figure out what to do. I didn't get the refund back on my card but at least I got my DTD in the end.

Jeez this company deserve everything coming to them.

    Urgent!!

Get yourself to an express store. The cooked meats (buy 2 for £3) if you buy 2 per transaction only, it knocks £4 off hence free. Works on ham, crumbed ham and beef!!!

ALSO in express only, 4 x activia yoghuts knocks £3 off your shopping bill. Woohoo.

Hi - just one pack of 4 activias at a time?

I feel so sorry for all of you who have problems in your local stores. I feel honored to have 2 extras local to me who honour the policy no matter what or how much i buy.

But as i have always said, should they kick up a fuss a simple refund will do me.

    Good look bargain hunters :-)

That's what encouraged me, Caz. My first time going for DTD and I remembered a post saying to make use of it, as the SEL will be removed after you. My point is that that's their promise to the customer and if by error or negligence they've misspriced, they should honour the policy...
Thanks for your advice though, I will keep trying for a bit and maybe just opt for a refund if it's too much hassle.

Thelurch, I appreciate your comments. only been to that store a few times and never to CS, so they had no reason to be suspicious. When I phoned CS, I actually only mentioned one item, but the response was that it was not an overcharge as the item had gone back up to full price and I still (eventually) got the offer price, therefore don't qualify for DTD.
Personally I don't feel my purchase was more 'obvious' than say, a couple of Denby sets some of the other finds I've read about; guess I was unlucky with the store and maybe a bit too enthusiastic on my first try! *wink*

Seriously suspect Big T's got a few 'spies' on here though...

hoped for dtd on them but then thought it was actually a good price...

I knew I had something to report back with! Saw the SEL expired yesterday with £8 to £4 so hoping for free. They scanned at £2 so not really complaining. Got the Rainforest & Aloe Blossom and the Lavender & Camomile.

That's exactly what I was doing, going for the DTD:rotfl::rotfl:but then realised they were so cheap had to have them.
Just to throw in another bit of good news, after I got my ppi claim upheld at the weekend for £2800 OH got a cheque for his cc ppi for £5452 today in the post, so between us in the last few days we've had £8,252 happy days and a holiday to be booked now:T:T:T:Tand to cap it all T's seems to be well glitching this week:rotfl::rotfl:
