just got back from tescos after spending an hour at customer services.

we saw a telly on display with a small yellow label attached to shelf underneath saying £299 reduced from £379, £329.

it was a samsung telly so went to get one off main shelf at end of an isle with a large £80 off hanging overhead. did have label at £379. we assumed it was same one because of £80 off hanging overhead.

went through till and was charged £379 so went to customer services to telly them the display model had wrongly labeled at £299. they refused to honour first by customer service, then by checkout supervisor. they tried to refund but coop bank would not do it.

after standing there for about an hour (we did not mention any double the difference due to error with refunding anyways(

we rang our bbank direct and they said money still sitting in our account so tesco unable to refund us but we have had to walk out of store with no telly and no technical refund because tescos could not do a refund until they had received money, so we have to go in tomorrow to complete transaction.

what should we do i feel abit weird having a receipt for a tely for £379 and going in tomorrow saying please cs person give me a refund for a telly you did not give me and if it doesn;t work then keep going in until they can complete the tgransaction.

i was hopeing to get a telly or double difference or something but we will end up with no telly, a refund when they can get round to it and we hvae had to stands at cs for an hour to then not be able to go out and get a telly somewhere if we find one as can't use bank now as monehy ios lost in tescos banking system as they can't do refund until they have officially receive it?

should we complain to head office because of their stupid bnanking systgem - we have no physical cash now to get a telly if we want to has it is stuck in black hole ?

thanks to you experts out there.
why have you posted this same post in 2 different threads?

I think I would fo the same thing in this situation. Id be in a blind panic and at the end of my wits.

Why should she be out of pocket for 24hours? It is their pricing mistake. Why should the customer be inconvenienced even for a moment?

Certainly hope it gets sorted soon for her.

Was the tv that went through the till the same one as the one that was on display with the reduced price?

the tv on display was the same one as we tookk to checkout, and the lable was underneath this telly that is why they removed it when we showed them, (tried to retain it but got it out again to show another manager).

i think they are trying to say the lable underneath is for a different model or barcode on the small print. however these details were covered up by an "out of stock" sticker.

but they quickly removed this yellow lable when oh went to show them the display model with this lable underneath and said it had been put there by mistake.

thanks i am as much as i want an excuse to keep going into tescos everyday until they can sort this out from their system it is rediculour that compuerisation makes things worse. if it was cash i would simply have handed it over then back again.

this has happened before when i bought kids clothes in 1/2 price sale they could not refund so gave me the £60 back in cash on that occasion but there was not this probably then and as far as i knnow bank just took money from my account at somepoint and tescos gave me cash back a few days later when i returned some stuff. but was not aware then why it had happened.

has this ever happened to anyone else at tescos or with a coop card.???

You need to contact Head Office customer services first thing tomorrow, before you go back instore, and explain the whole situation. If your CS are refusing you DTD which they shouldnt, then
Head Office customer service will phone the store usually and ask them exactly why they wouldnt give it to you.The stores don't really like it when Head office intervene. Hope you understand what I mean. Personally I wouldnt have left the store:rotfl:and would have kicked up a right stink. Make sure that you tell head office the whole story especially that they removed the label after you showed them!!!!

It's up to you how far you are prepared to go.Personally if I wanted the tv I'd definately make my point about DTD with head office and go with that. Get the DTD refund and a nice, cheap tv:)

    What should happen is:
you paid £379, label says £299, difference is £80 so you should be refunded £160 (dtd), bringing the price of the TV down to £219.

I would definitely phone HO tomorrow morning as not only did you not get your tv, you didn't get a refund! You could explain to HO that you are very concerned that you paid them £379 with nothing to show for it and will they even believe you when you go in tomorrow? Is it possible you will end up £379 down and no tv?
[ Personally, I wouldn't be unduly worried about this as i imagine they took your details and the cctv shows you not getting tv etc, but HO don't know this - you could be very stressed out by this lack of refund! and it is terrible customer service]

One word of caution on this is that the label in question appears to be for a different TV from what the OP says (albeit covered up with an Out Of Stock).

If it was for the same model, then I'd agree with you, but you are giving the OP the impression that it should be a done deal for DtD, whereas I suspect they will have a bit more of a fight than you suggest, it all depends on what the label said - if it had a barcode, it will be difficult, but if it said "£80 off Sony TV" or something as vague, you can argue your case.

That said, nothing ventured and all that.....

Two further points to note, firstly, the sale was completed at the till, so don't let them tell you you don't "own" the TV.

Secondly, I'd ask for the TV first before asking for DtD. It's been known for staff to say the item is "out of stock" if you don't actually have it in your possession - then they will simply refund you (i.e. you buy an xbox 360 game by taking a dummy case to the till, then have to go to CS/Electricals to pick it up - in that situation, get the actual game in your hand, then query the price)
