not sure if this is the right place to mention it, but I went to tesco (milton keynes bletchley) today to get some offers, also picked up a fireangel 10 year smoke alarm, shelf label of £14, but it went through the till for £7.

I was refused DTD today as well :(

Bio-oil was priced on the shelf as £10.11 however it went through the checkout at £15.17. The shelf label was a normal black and white label so it hadn't been reduced to 10.11. I was buying it as part of my normal shopping.

When I double checked the receipt before exiting the store, I realised I had been charged extra. The SA went to check the label on the shelf, she was gone for at least 8-10 minutes. She came back with the SEL and indeed, the bio-oil was labelled as 10.11 but should have been labelled as £15.17.

After a lot of faffing around she only gave £5.06 back. I pointed out that it was tesco's policy to DTD, there were no signs behind customer services which I could point to so my case was weak. She refused DTD and said she knew nothing about it. She was the manager/supervisor/team leader because the original SA had to call her over to authorise the refund!

So after around 15 minutes wait, I only got back the money which tesco had unlawfully taken from me! It's really not acceptable but then I don't see whether there is any point in emailing head office as they seem to just send a generic response along the lines of 'we will talk to the store manager'.

  • Does anyone else, when they receive their email from Tesco after you've input your receipt, get disappointed when the price check says 'sorry'. My first thought is always 'oh damn, no voucher as it's not cheaper' and then the penny drops that they're actually saying sorry as they were more expensive.

Not sure if I've explained this very well, but I do it EVERYTIME.

I picked up a pair of boys PJs tonight as I'd spotted a reduced sticker (yes, I hunt around the clothing departments for cheap clothes to stock up for the kids). The PJs should have been £4 but noticed they scanned at £4.50. Said nothing, went to CS and was given the £1 DTD back. No quibbles, no being made to feel like a thief but then, it wasn't a trout on the CS desk

Just posted this on the grabbit board and thought I'd better put it here too:)Just bought the Tesco Finest Belgian Chocolate pudding 430g (It's big) from T's. No SEL on it and it's in the freezer cabinet. It should be £3.50 and was going through at 87p:T USE by date FEB 2012. It looks delicious and have bought 6 as it will be fine for Xmas. It's a sponge made from butter with a belgian chocolate sauce(Might just have to "test" it tonight to make sure it tastes ok:rotfl:)
    Beware!!!! Glitching is addictive:rotfl:
