I spotted another possible DTD opportunity with the Tesco 3 for 2 beer offer.
In my local store they had packs of Beck's Blue Alcohol Free Lager (6x275ml) in the main beer aisle with an SEL for £3.99 and 3 for the price of 2. However, in the fathers day section they had the same packs with an SEL for £2.88 and 3 for the price of 2. Both SELs had an expiry date of 21/6/11.
The packs are £3.99 online, so you have to think they'll go through the till at this price. So if you find the SEL for £2.88 and got 3 packs, you'll be charged £7.98 = an overcharge of £2.22 = a DTD refund of £4.44 = 18 bottles for a net price of £3.54.

sorryaboutmywife wrote: »There is some sort of glitch on the 3for2 single bottles of beer. This morning I bought:
3x Tesco Kriek Cherry Beer 1.39 each
1x Newcastle Brown Ale 1.89
1x Bishops Finger 1.89
1x London Pride 1.49
Total 9.44
Till only took off 1.39
Was refunded DTD =2.78
Net 5.27 for 6 beers!
Because it took off 1.39, I'm guessing this is for the Kriek, therefore it's the three single ales that it glitches on. Hmm, maybe I should have been refunded 2x1.49 then??? Never mind.
So if you just bought the three ales, that's 2.29 for 3 beers based on the above three. Is my maths right?
The London Pride is not showing as being in the 3 for 2 offer online, so I think this is what caused your overcharge. Given that you were charged £1.49, it seems like you got the 330ml bottle.

Hi All
re DTD on over charges
Ive had a problem with the Failsworth store manchester not giving DTD and having that part of their sign covered
Well I emailed Philip Clarke and here is his response :j
Thank you for your email addressed to Philip Clarke, to which I have been asked to respond. Please accept my apologies for the delay in replying to you.
I am sorry that you you have not received our overcharge policy consistently in all of our stores and I would like to take this opportunity to clarify our policy.
If we overcharge our customers, regardless of which store you visit, our policy is to refund double the difference.
As this has not been followed in our Failsworth store, I have brought this to the attention of Adrian Pasquet, our Failsworth Store Manager. He will take the necessary action to make sure that the sign is updated and our overcharge policy is applied correctly.
Thank you for taking the time to bring this matter to our attention.
Ok so no money card but I do think getting DTD back in Failsworth will prob be worth more than that in the long run eh?
This must be quite a recent change as I was given DTD in Failsworth no problem in the last couple of months...
One question - do they have a price checker in that store? The clothing one has been removed the last few times I've been.Addicted to MSE0 -

After DTD ended with shopping they covered over the relevant info on the customer service board so yes fairly recent
And if there is a price checker Ive never seen it !!

was in watford tesco on Thursday, and was overcharged by £0.62x2,
was told it was an old offer and the offer had finished,
c.s refused to give DTD only the difference, they had a A4 sheet saying they no longer do DTD, and they blue sign saying about DTD was covered over with blue insulation tape.
phoned head office who said they were wrong and sent me a card with £1.24.
anyhow went there on monday and the sign with product i was overcharged is still there!!
complained to trading standards and the ASA.
went to tesco today the sign with the overcharged product is still there,
the A4 sheet and the blue insulation tape has gone.
sorry but as i've complained to trading standards and the ASA i don't want to revel the product i question!
whats going on in that store??0 -
I bought a baby t-shirt today at the Middleton extra (but only coz it was reduced to £1.50) - it scanned on the self serve till for £2. Went to customer service and was given 50p. I questioned the DTD and the SA suggested someone had taken the sticker from another item :eek: Hope she wasn't referring to me as that someone. Anyway - thankfully there was another 3 on the shelf so I said well someone has been moving a lot of stickers then
Got my DTD...and t-shirt for £1

Please could you tell me who this was from? The name at CEO? The reason I ask is I have an e-mail contradicting this from that very same office.
Many thanksI am firmly across the line. I won't impose my values on you if you keep away from mine.

as with the falisworth case though isn't this something you should put in writing to philip clarke so that head office can speak to the store manager directly?
often if you speak to CS on the phone they will send you the money card but the actual problem at store level isn't taken any furtherGRATITUDE WHEN GIVEN, PATIENCE WHEN DENIED
Please press the thanks button when someone has helped!0 -

I hate it when they do that - try to make you feel dishonest. I had a joint of beef when r&r was going and the cs said 'oh it was the only one put in the wrong place, I disagreed and accompanied her back to the shelf where we caught 2 members of staff taking all the same joints out of the fridge where I picked mine up from. Why they feel it necessary to be so horrid I don't know, they make themselves look like fools by behaving like this.0
