Hope its ok to post this here as not sure if its classed as a misprice or not but in my local Tesco today they had packs of 8 Twirl Bars (twin bars) for 16p!! The SEL was labelled up as 16p and they went through the till at 16p!! Making them 2p per twin pack of Twirls - and i've eaten so many i feel sick now!
They still had plenty of shelf life (best before 012010 so not sure why they were so cheap). Barcode on the pack is 5 034660 517344

hi, just thought i would check on here first before ringing cs, i bought a vtech smile game reduced to £2 yellow stickered (but not fully covering barcode) this morning and went through self scan, i was charged 3.74 for it, went to customer services was given 1.74 back. I asked about dtd and was told it was not there mistake but mine???? so was only entitled to what i got back. im pretty sure it should be dtd???

As far as i know you are responsible for checking items go through correctly when you use the self scan tills.
    Unless anyone knows differently?

I wouldn't know for sure - so will stand to be corrected -

    BUT

Bottom line is - you were overcharged. You shouldn't have to be responsible for Tesco's sloppy work in covering the barcodes etc.
Personally - I think you should have been entitled to DtD.

They did not have self scan in my store when I worked there so this is a guess.

I can see both sides of the story, yes you should be responsible for ensuring that the correct price is scanned on self scan but the only way of doing this would be to cover up the real bar code with a finger whilst scanning. Who is going to do that???? And yes Tesco staff should have ensured that the reduction sticker fully covers the real bar code so in a way it is their fault.

I once bought 2 boxes of half price - reduced stickers - chocs (ages ago) where 1 box had the stickers on the top of the box and covering the bar code on the bottom and the second box had it only on the top - so real bar code showing. I placed them on the conveyor of a manned till separated by other shopping and the cashier saw I had two the same and asked me to pass her the other box as she was going to put them through as 2x... Luckily she scanned the box with only 1 reduced sticker on (both at full price) so I got both boxes free (after a bit of hassle).

Best bet is to call customer services head office and tell them exactly what happened. They will probably give you the missing amount in clubcard points.

just a quick update, have rang cs and they said that it is not a dtd as dtd doesn't apply to yellow stickered item apparently on self scan.
    hope that helps anyone else.
thankyou to everyone who tried to help me ;-)

they are telling you lies ,colour of sticker is irrelevant and dtd does apply at self scan,as ugly Rafa would say FACT!
