The insurance was not with Vodaphone it came with my bank card, i had to pay a £ 30 ex. My phone was/is K700i. i have put a spare sim in and it works ok.

Was it a PAYG or Contract SIM ?

If you report it stolen/lost contract phone to Voda they would/should do two things:

    1. Cancel the specific SIM associated with your number so it cannot be used.
Issue a new SIM for your number.

    2. Bar the IMEI of the phone so regardless of what SIM is put it it will not
register to the Voda network or others that share informaton.

No sure what they do for (1) above if its a PAYG SIM but they don't appear to have barred the IMEI if it works OK with another SIM.

So assuming the found phone still had the original SIM in it does this SIM still register to the netwrok - have Voda cancelled the original SIM when you reported it lost or sent you a new replacement SIM ?

    As you suggest

Unless for some reason the phone wasn't originally supplied by Voda so they don't have the IMEI on file to "block". Was a different phone originally supplied ?
