Yep the title says it all!
I lost my job on Friday and I'm absolutely livid!
I don't really want to go into any particulars but lets just say it wasn't the right way for them to go about it!!
This is basically a big bl**dy rant. I was well on my way to paying a huge chunk of my debt off this year but nooooo that is very unlikely to happen now. I doubt I'll get another well paid job this year! I can't believe it!!!! Why do all the bad things happen to good people who try so hard???
Sorry about the moan if you want to have a rant with me then go for it.....tis not fair

That is tough! I don't suppose there is any scope for you taking them to an emloyment tribunal?0 -
Ahh loubie_lou, I'm really sorry to hear you bad news

First thing's first, get straight on to the benefit claims line and answer the questions and you'll be offered JSA and probably housing and council tax benefit. For the price of a phonecall, an appointment in town and a few forms - it's well worth it of course! The time it takes to get this sorted is RIDICULOUS! Do it ASAP, it took me 7 weeks from my claim to getting a single penny.
I'd been working for the same company for several years and had put in so much to the company and they turned around and closed it, owing me about £5k in unpaid wages!! Losing your job sucks a$$ and I totally feel for your situation. I've had to go through the stress and hassle of an employment tribunal to try and reclaim what's owed to me and everything financial in my life is messed up because of it, from tax and NHI to my day to day living expenses
I think that's partly why it took so long to claim JSA
But on the bright side, if I do get my money from the tribunal, it will wipe all my debts away which I suppose is the silver lining to it all. You mentioned that they didn't go about something the right way, so is there any possibility you may also be able to go down the same route to claiming some money? I'm not a fan of legal action for the sake of money grabbing like in the US, I only believe legal action is just when you've been wronged, so maybe this is something you could investigate? Employment law is quite tight these days ya know
Head up and good luck. Bad things do happen to everyone, good and bad. I'm just sorry to hear it happened to you

Dear Louby Lou,
I haven't posted before but I hope I can help a bit. Did your company give you any notice? Are they still trading? If they are and they have cut your job without giving you warning in writing they have almost certainly acted outside the law. Many small companies don't know that the law changed just over twelve months ago and there are procedures they have to follow before making someone redundant or sacking them.
Try ringing ACAS for free advice, they will tell you if the company have acted illegally and how to go about making a claim on them.
I know this because my daughter was made redundant with no notice in October and we went into things pretty thoroughly - the company settled out of court with a much bigger sum than she would have been entitled to if they had just followed the correct procedures.0 -
Life sucks sometimes doesnt it mate
I have been jobless for the past three months, and then a job comes round the corner and you pounce on it.

Good luck and try not to worry to much (as hard as it may seem).0
