Perhaps it's a VAT refund? Lots of companies are refunding 2.5% VAT because of the temporary VAT reduction.

    From the Three website:

    [...]

54p (rounded) is the VAT "additional credit" for a £25 spend. Perhaps it thinks you've spent 25 pounds?!

Blimey that was clever of you to work that one out, Monsieur Poirot!

That's exactly what I did do.. I credited the account by £25 and bought a 7GB allowance over the next 30 days.. So the 54p is 2.5% of that.. Not sure I will ever use that Cash TopUp... since the SIM is in a 3G dongle and the cheapest data package costs £10...

I bet there is somebody somewhere who can "chip them up" .. like they do with mobile phones, free for life but illegal. ;)

I have just got one of these for £4.95 and I can browse for free. An earlier post said something about some sites are free. I can also check my POP3 email so this is looking good. Free Broadband bring it on!!:T

Just noticed my Dongle Box says Prepay, that might be the reason for free access ?

#Sounds like you got a very good deal if you got some allowance as well! What does it say you've got for credit at http://www.three.co.uk/my3

When I go to my account at the three website it says there are no free credits for this mobile!

I can't think Three have screwed up and are forgetting to bill people... They are perhaps letting you have a taster.. That said there is no PPP authentication as such... you can use any username/password combination and any authentication method (CHAP, PAP, MSCHAP, etc..) and it still says authentication successful.. I guess that Three must be authenticating only on the ICCID of the SIM card... Maybe they sent out the wrong batch of SIMs with the free dongles, and you've got a 12 month pre-paid one!

I've just ot one of the free dongles, works fine. I've put £10 of credit on it so my account shows 1024Mb of data but I notice it isn't going down as I use it. I've downloaded around 20Mb so I'd expect to see some change.

BTW: Anyone know how the data is "counted", is it just downloads or upload+download, or what?
  • mine has stopped working.

    Going to top up later

    the free ride is over.
    :jTo be Young AGAIN!!!!...what a wonderfull thought!!!!!

You can unlock this modem (the ZTE) for free, without using DC Unlocker and without paying someone on Ebay. I posted a thread with the download link just here:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1703797

Instructions are the download. It's easy to do and it won't cost you a penny.
