Oh I see what you mean I deleted a link from there a while ago as it was uderneath on a new line, but it also happens when people zoom in etc. But it looks fine on my laptop. I see yeah I have some links in the footer already but when I have time I will make take some links off the nav bar as there is alot.
Do you know anyways of getting ads at all? I can't use adsense as I have to wait 6 months before I can reapply.
You usually need to wait until your site gets a certain level of traffic or impressions to even qualify for certain ad networks, like BuySellAds.
Check out AffiliateWindow though - they're free to join and have loads of advertisers.0 -
After reading this I decided to set up a blog myself, its my link on my name if anyone is interested. My domain is currently my name but I am thinking of changing this soon, its just ive owned my name as a domain for a long time now and don't wanna let it go
Be great to get some feedback, im not the worlds greatest writer, but I know a lot about the subject niche so its worth me talking about the subject.0 -

I like it! The blog is bright and clean and easy to read. However, I also love your name! I totally get the "not wanting to let go of your personal domain name". There's no reason you can't keep it and just use it for email or redirect it to your website or whatever. I've had a "personal" domain for ages too - I think the last time I renewed it, I signed up for 5 years as I've come to realise/admit that I don't actually want to ever let it go. lol0 -

Thanks for that, really cheered me up
I think I'll keep it then0 -
So many people seem to have blogs!
Mine is just a little one but some of those that I read are HUGE with hundreds of thousands of followers and the bloggers write and sell e-books and people pay to advertise on their blogs.0 -
I don't think people starting blogs should be ramming it full of adverts to start...it just looks like an entire money spinner and your only interested in making cash rather than speaking about the subject at hand.
Yes it's cool to make a few quid, but Adsense, adverts and affiliate links all over the place looks terrible. Especially with a new blog. I just have a small amazon link at the bottom of each post
At least for now whilst it builds up a bit of traffic0 -

I agree, James. If you intend to advertise on it eventually I think it's ok to put maybe one or two ads on in the early days, but not before you have built up some content and gained some followers. Your one link is ok. I think it's a mistake to get people hooked in, then all of a sudden loads of adverts appear. Seems deceitful to me, like you are using people for your own gains. Hey, you like my blog? Well click on some links and make me some money.
I will not have any adverts on my blog because I didn't set it up to make money. My blog is about making the most of what I already have. It would be detrimental to the theme of the blog to place adverts on it, expecting others to fund my lifestyle. I am probably missing out on a lucrative income, but the pleasure I get from writing the blog is enough for me.
I suppose I shouldn't really be posting in this thread, but I wanted to point out that it is best to be honest from the start. I know a blogger who has gone all out to beg as many people as possible to follow her. She once frowned upon people who put adverts in their blog, and now that she has hooked people in, she is doing the same. Adverts disguised as guest posts, and accepting freebies in exchange for advertising them. This tells me there is a game plan in place, and the followers are just pawns.
If your aim is to make money from your blog, say so from the start, but you still need to put in the work, whether you are aiming for monetary rewards, or blogging for the fun of it.

Thank you. I feel passionately about being open and honest. Hate devious practices. I would not cheat my readers.

I have had my blog for a few years now and I write because I love it. No adverts or reviews of things given for free. It is just nice to be part of the bloggy community - getting comments, following blogs, and (my favourite!) doing giveaways.
Some blogs seem to be run like businesses (some of the SAHM ones especially) but that would take all the fun out of it for me. It would be like a job! I would feel awfully responsible if I recommended or advertised a product that turned out not to live up to expectations.0
