Blogging for a second income - does anyone else here do this?

True, but it's against Google terms to use any scheme to artificially inflate your page views/clicks. Not worth getting banned for.
Its not a scheme. Many bloggers pick a topic of interest and work together on it. Its fun and introduces your readers to other people.
You seem to confuse people trying to con Google in to giving them more money (which I'm not) with those that just want to have a bit of fun.:santa2:0 -
AdSense is one of the main ways to make money, but I have also had some success with Amazon Affiliates, especially in the run-up to Christmas. Has anyone else used them or other affiliate schemes?
I am an Amazon Affiliate but have never really seen it do anything for me. It is great for up selling, so I hear.0 -
I see you are using a blogspot domain. I highly recommend buying a domain from GoDaddy and pointing it to your site. You get a free email inbox with Godaddy as well so there is no need to "buy" a mailbox from them. If you need help with this let me know and I will assist.
Thanks but I don't want to buy another domain at present. I usually use 123-Reg and can recommend them, if anyone here wants to go domain shopping. I know how to set catch-all email too. I just don't want to, for this particular hobby project.Maybe I'll change my mind in the future.
Edited to say: Although maybe that will be sooner rather than later as I'm getting fed up of Blogger's auto country-specific domain redirection. I can't, for example, set a 301 redirection unless I pay up...0 -
Thanks for this post. I do have blogs but it's all personal and I'm only good on the first couple of weeks and get bored on writing. The tip "how to" is really great. Will try rebuilding my blog site again.
Again, thanks and very well done, amandaf!0 -

You get visitors to your blog by the content of your blog. You write about any current technology then it will get more visitors.can try SEO if there is any free tool.
My blog is sort of homemaking / craft related and I know nothing about technology!
How many visitors a day would you need to make advertising worthwhile?0 -
With any blog the difference between making a few quid and not making anything is usually with the following :
(i)The type of blog you have
(ii)The kind of audience you're trying to attract
(iii)Are your visitors random or highly targeted
(iv)Competition for keyword phrases in your niche
(v)How well your keywords are ranked with Google
If you aim is to sell your own or affiliate products then, get the preparation part right by doing keyword research, write unique and informative content, get your blog content indexed quickly and enjoy better results and sales.
I didn't have a plan at all when I started my blog - have been writing a couple of years now and it is still pretty random!
I would like to reach more people so I think I will have to work on my post titles - they are random at the moment and I never thought about keywords.
One thing I have noticed is that a lot of my views come from people looking for sheep pictures and if you search for cure sheep on Google images mine are up towards the top.0 -
My blog made £60.93 last month with Google Adsense. I've been blogging today, doing some updates. I think it helps to blog about something you are passionate about or at least have some interest in, I can't see myself blogging just for profit but lucky for me what I am blogging about is profitable. I use my blog money as treat money for myself. My readers are mostly american and canadian and I rank highly on Google.0

I followed quinechinoise example and put a amazon store on my site. I've just uploaded books and DVD's I like and it was actually a bit of fun!
Not expecting to make money from it, but it will be interesting to see how well it goes next christmas..:santa2:0 -

I just looked at your blog and you know there are a lot of hacks and tweaks for the Blogger templates to remove attributions like "powered by Blogger" and the nav bar at the top. With very little effort you can make it so know one knows it is powered by Blogger.
It makes the site look more professional and people seem to take it much more seriously as a result. There's nothing wrong with it, and it is the content that counts - I'm just bringing this up for the benefit of anyone else who may be reading this post.0
