I have only been blogging a few months but find it really hard to get followers. I think people get disheartened to quickly.

I've been a lurker on this thread for a while, just wanted to say thanks for all the great tips! I've had some ideas for a long time but never had the guts to get going. Reading this has really inspired me to just bite the bullet and start blogging! I'm very much a newbie to all this but I am really enjoying it!

For anyone who is interested in placings ad's on their site, you could try Chitika.

Their ad's work in the same way as adsense, but I have literally only just signed up so could not give you any kind of review yet.

Also you can get free backlinks via freebacklinktool.com.

Don't forget to sign up for Google Anayltics, a great free tool.

Chitika is a good place to start, but nothing compares to adsense to be honest

I think the original OP has this exactly right. You have to do it for something in which you really believe or are passionate about. I tried blogging simply to promote other interests and ventures and it soon becomes a chore to many if your heart is not in it. On top of that the earning level is pretty rubbish and there are far better and quicker ways to make cash on line. Definitely one for the dedicated.
  • This is a very nice thread. I tried blogging once and I had a lot of misconceptions about it. At first, I thought blogging is easy and fast money. After a few months since I started, the income I generated was so small that I easily gave it up. After knowing other bloggers and reading their blogs, I realized that earning money through blogging does not happen overnight. You are right in saying that blogging is a hard work and it takes a long time. And I thought blogging with personal content can do the earning but I was wrong. We really have to pay attention to specific and interesting niches and have focus.
