Hey, I do some blog posting for other people but I could do with more clients. Where's the best place to find them?

I don't know what the rules are here about posting links, so I won't post any, but googling will take you to these:

Try the Job Board over at Problogger - gigs tend to get posted up there on a daily basis.

Craigslist is another potential source of writing gigs.

Also, a lot of low paid work gets posted on the Digitalpoint forums.

I had no idea you could make an income by blogging. I have a personal one that almost nobody reads so that's no use but that might be an idea. But I'm not sure about the topic that I could write about, I know nothing of money matters, politics etc that people would want to read about. How do you go about that?

There are basically two ways to make some money out of blogging:

    a) have your own blog and make money from the advertising on it

    b) write for other people's blogs

You do really need to have a specialist topic, and/or be very amusing or satirical.

I'd like to add also that one of my blogs (about personal finance) is making £60 per guest post from marketing agencies promoting their clients. Some of the agencies getting in touch with me want me to publish content for no fee at all, but the a couple of others seem really keen to pay these flat fees in order to gain 12 months on my blog. Naturally, I will keep the content as it helping to boost my ranking.

Damn, no chance of me having a specialist subject or being so amusing and satirical I could attract a following :D never mind, it was worth inquiring about

Always seem to find myself chiming into this thread. Alot has changed since my last posts about my micro niche ideas... for one I now work full time in the SEO industry.

I pulled the plug on my micro niche sites as they just werent converting, and now run a car related website. The website is 2 and a half months old, and I get around 160-200 visits a day. 90% of my traffic comes from Google as I rank well for my keyword.

I am starting to get emails from companies wanting to buy ad space, or wanting to do sponsored giveaways. I am looking at charging £35 a month for ad space, and a flat £40 for sponsored giveaway and people seem to be happy to cough up the cash for this.

My knowledge on this kind of thing has expanded tenfold since getting a job in the SEO industry and I have a couple more websites in the pipeline. There is so much money to be made on the net but it takes determination, a good idea, QUALITY content and time.

    Amen to that
  • i run a site and get 2000 visits a month but only averaging £4-5 a month from it, im now testing different positions of my ads to see if i can get better clicks, but i am only in position number 8 in google for my keyword so going up even 1 place will get me those extra views and clicks.

Now i think quality unique content is key as well as RELEVANT backlinks, no spam rubbish that doesn't relate to your site.

  • hey all,

Just spent 3 evenings reading through this thread and have found it very interesting. I've been (slowly) working on a blog now for about 4 months and have built it up to around 50 visitors a day (from only 15 posts). I have adsense but it has only generated a few pounds.

At the moment I am focusing on getting the content up and building up backlinks.

There are companies in my niche which would be interested in advertising but I have no idea how much I should be charging? Is it best to charge a fixed rate? CPC or per impression?

I'm guessing they would want to see analytics data before committing to pay out?

    thanks in advance
