I have made my blog, Im just struggling with driving traffic to it. I dont know where to start.

Getting traffic is not easy you have to work extra hard and have patience. Blogs take time to pick up traffic, they say minimum 3 months that speed depends on you.

    For free marketing
    • Google forums in your niche and see if they allow signature
    • Do you have any tracking tool in your blog? Google have free tool called Google analytics, it tells you how many people been in your site, how long they spent, and what marketing campaign they came from. It basically is your feedback tool, as a lot of people do not comment in blogs but might be interested to what you have to say, and visit your blog regularly.
    • The best free marketing tool is article marketing, there are few places that accept articles, and google love them. Most are against putting affiliate link to your signature but you can put your blog link.
    • here few list
Ezine- this is the best of all as soon as they publish your post google index them fast but they come with a catch, your article has to be original and for new members they take up to 7 days to accept them , once they accept them you can submit the same article to other places like Go article, article city and many more, the more you can submit to the better for your site to be picked up in search engines.
    • Social book marking is good way to market but you have to learn the inns and out before you go ahead and use them places like delicious, Stumbleupon, facebook twitter .
    • Digg is a social news website, people share news clips and if you get alot of diggs i.e votes your site can be in top of the page, with exposure to thousands of people. Again it is not easy to reach to the top page in digg there are several things to learn, before you can master it.
    • Hub pages, squido so many platform for marketing, it is a lot to learn but you can start with one method and build your marketing methods as you go.

Search for other blogs in your niche, ie mummy blogger searches for other mummy bloggers. Then from there make an effort to cmment on other blogs and they may well come read your blog.

I've never really had the discipline for blogging but I may have to try getting into it.
I've got a few websites and one of them generates around £30 a month income from advertising. I get contacted directly by them and they pay me to put their links on my site - can't believe they pay me for this when I only get around 30 unique visitors a day.
I'm trying to create busier sites with the theory that I can them generate higher incomes from them, but it is mainly a hobby, the money is a bonus.

Nice blogs guys, especially yours damita. 200quid a month is a nice sum! Got any tips? My blog is slowly taking off, I have been contacted by an expert of my niche who has been doing it for 32 years and use to write to magazines about it, saying he is willing do do a sort of guest article and host a competition where he will donate the prizes! All very exciting stuff. I am definitely getting sucked into blogging.

I've decided to start a blog about my financial problems and how I am getting on at getting myself out of debt by reducing my expenses and increasing my income - hopefully someone might find it entertaining, enlightening and maybe even inspiring.
Which blogging site do you recommend I use?

In my opinion it depends on how good you are with computers. I went with wordpress as I know abit of coding and was able to change code in a theme to how I wanted it to look. Wordpress provides alot more flexibility, blogger is easier, but less functions.

That is very good idea, you providing solution to a problem. Your blog will do well I am sure best of luck, I agree with ewaf, blogger is easier but it is limited but I suggest to get your domain, so if you want to move to wordpress later, you do not lose all the backlinks that you have built.

Can anyone give any advice about ads? At the moment I just have a small box of google ads, and it has made about £2.15 in a week. I was wondering if there any any ads I could add to my page?
