hi...hope everyone is doing well...we have just had the first installment in a massive box of mushrooms i got from the local veg shop...cost £1...we had cheese on toast with mushrooms for lunch and i am going to make a stirfry with them for tea...and chicken and mushroom pie for tea tomorrow...havent thought what to do with the rest yet

i went to ikea yesterday and got x5 thyme plants that hadnt been watered...they were 49p each so i got 5 (there were loads) and have soaked them over night and today planted them out in pots all around my patio....i love the smell of time especially when the sun shines on it...my garden smells lovely its great when u have a bbq on a balmy evening (we dont get many of those)...so hopefully i can breath life into plants and use herbs during the summer in cooking

i did some baking yesterday...made cookies ..there is some funny business going on with smarties...i used a tube in cookies and the colours really paled on cooling...they looked a bit odd but tasted ok

has anyone read thread on here about tesco reducing 'stuff ' im not sure what but it might help our budgets

    take care

    Hi guys

just popped to the local Mr T, needed butter, coke (for nightshifts and on offer) also picked up apples for me and bunny! and yogurts (muller corners 5 for £1) was well impressed with that.

So another £6.52 :T:T Thats good for me.

so total now £50.42. would have been at £120 ish by now in months gone by.
should only need to pick bits and bobs as have enough dinners in the freezer.
Although i am getting REALLY FED UP of the same ole meals. so close to buying a takeaway last night but resisted, thanks to this thread and remembering i would need to post it on here!!!

Keep up the good work everyone.

OH and I went to Asda together yesterday - which is always a recipe for disaster! Bought all sorts of rubbish and ended up with a bill of £50 for god knows what! Apart from some chicken and some mince, I don't think we really got anything useful so I'm going to need to be very creative to stay within budget this month. Oh well. At least we got the garden semi under control and we managed to pack in a movie night as well. Plus I got to take a nice bath with the rose scented bubbles our neighbour gave me for my birthday while hubby cooked Thai green curry and rice. So not a bad weekend after all - despite the black hole in the grocery fund!

    Afternoon all :D

Tessie -If all else fails-slice up the mushrooms and throw them in a bag in the freezer ;), I only buy frozen now-Im really funny with mushrooms, if I don't use them the day I buy them I won't eat them (someone food poisoned me once with them )..so no more throwing them out for me:p...

We need to nip out for the last of the compost (famous last words) tonight so I will pick up more long life yoghurts for me whilst Im there -they are only 49c for 4 so I buy a 24 tray or 2 at a time when they have them -saves me quite a bit :T... Have enough loo rolls to set up shop -but if they have the 12 andrex for just over €2 again I will get some more:p.....If I do get these they will be for next month and beyond but I may as well get them...

doing pasta salad tonight and hubby wants extras to take for his lunch tomorrow-so thats another easy meal :j

Hi everyone, been mia for a while but just updated the recipe list at the front - Bacon and carrot soup is on my list to try!:j

Haven't been able to get to shops for a couple of weeks (DSIS has been keeping me supplied with veg and fruit :A) so I haven't spent much this month, hoping to do a small stock up shop later in the month but I think I'll be within budget. I'm trying not to spend too much as I need to replace wm and freezer soon.

Welcome to the newbies :hello: and Congrats to gailey on your news :j

    Good luck everyone!

I decided to make this a separate post so it doesnt get lost amongst my whittering!!

Just looking at the recipe list on the first page and the 'main meals' bit is getting big and cumbersome. If I moved 'soups' out to their own section it might help? What do you all think? I don't want to make the list overly complicated. Please let me know what you would prefer ;)

    That sounds pretty good actually!

My budget is going quite well so far this month. I had an Ocado delivery last week as they sent me a £15 voucher to use. Stocked up on cupboard essentials and juice etc.

Went to Lidl in my lunch break and got a pack of "Living Salads" Oriental Green Salad for 99p - about 12 good sized rooted plants in the tray, very fresh must be just in, of Pak Choi, Tatsoi, Chard & Mustard. There was also a general lettuce one to chose from.

Will repot into bigger pots when I get home and put on my sunny kitchen windowsill with my herbs. Well pleased with my bargain!

I agree with MrsM, these freeze well, and I find they taste more mushroomy when used from frozen...mmmmmm!
Was good today, avoided the Coop on the way home from Toddlers and only spent £1.50 today (Toddlers fee, incl. a snack).
Enjoying reading all the posts even if not posting so much.
Tonight is bbq chicken, rice and a selection of veggies.....mmmmm.
Been getting back into baking and made a poppy seed lemon cake and also some cookies (using the lovely expensive dried fruit and nut mix mum sent me :)). Also made DS more fruit porridge for brekkie/bed time snack.
Take care everyone. Oh yeah, and welcome all newbies who have arrived since I stopped posting so much.

Hi everyone - hope you all had a good weekend. Logged on to update my spends from the weekend, mostly on Fruit and Salad, can't wait until I can pick Salad etc from the Garden/Greenhouse and start saving some money.

Been busy in the kitchen today to replenish dwindling supplies of Muffins, cookies etc. and to make Dinner for tonight, really enjoy a day like that as I find it very therapeutic.;)

Dinner tonight is HM Butternut Squash soup (using 49p BNS from Aldi's Super 6), HM Shepherds Pie, (used up some sliced Lamb from a previous roast:D), peas & sweetcorn and HM Lime Meringue Pie (using Limes from Aldis Super 6). ;)

Hope everyone is doing well, have a good evening.:D
