I feel that this is the urgent question the debrag wants answered:

I should have £585 left after all the bills etc and I was hoping to use that for another months rent but should I use it for BR fees?

Not sure what to advise. What will happen if you don't pay your rent? Have you access to any other funds, even cc which you could utilize for the BR (ORs don't seem to turn a hair over this use being made)

I think debrag is trying to work out how to proceed with limited funds and not being sure what income there will be from various sources. Am I right that jobseekers won't apply immediately as a resignation position? And where can facts about LHA be obtained so that an estimate can be made?

I think its a question of getting thefacts clear here.

    thanks

It was either jump or be pushed!

I'm wondering do I start the whole process now or after my last working date?

I start the whole LHA & JSA claim ASAP but there will be say 6 weeks before I see any JSA money (not sure about LHA)
  • Hmm not sure what the best timing would be. What does the debt charity (CAB/CCCS advise). Is it possible to raise the question with the LHA?

Yes I thought there might be a problem with getting jobseekers straight away.

Not being much help here, but it sounds very much as if you will have very little to live on once you are down to your £585 and may need to think priorities such as food and rent, which means the fees are going to be a problem. Really struggling here - anyone else able to help?

good idea there. I shall do that now :)

I'm in London so is it the Royal Court or my local county court?

only you know if you can manage without much money till your full benifits start coming through but i am tempted to say use your money on your BR as once on benifits it could be a while before you get £515 again,at least this way you know your creditors are of your back and when you get your LSA its all yours and you dont have to save for BR.

its your local county court:beer: unless you kill your creditors for ringing too much then its the crown court!
  • The OP's initial SoA showed her to have a monthly surplus - I guess what I wanted to understand was why they would want to give up work and go BR when they can pay their debts whilst working?

well by the end of this week I'll have been handed my notice from work, so why I'd like to work and pay everything off this just doesn't seem possible.

It's been a nightmare at work for the past year, up to the point I just wanted to walk there and then but I stuck it out as long as possible.
  • In the meantime I've looked at some of your other posts and noticed that you have not enjoyed work due to bullying & harrassment... It may be too late in your mind, but I guess you've taken your grievances to HR and explained your situation?

I only ask as I really wouldn't take leaving work lightly at the moment - 2 months in to looking for work and I'm hating it and becoming more frustrated by the day. I'm over-qualified for low paid jobs (and they wouldn't keep the household going anyway), and I'm not hearing anything about better jobs. It isn't pleasant.
