Mallorca Tourism Suffering Due To Euro
Comments

mrs b . hope you are not on the sauce..the islands where i go are ghost towns..takings in restaurant are 70% year on year and this is one of the top five restaurants..the high street was deserted every night.....i fear its going to be a long summer for some..i am off to Egypt in four weeks just because of the euro..It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -
This will be the first time in 5 years that we aren't going to Mallorca, mainly down to the euro rate but also having to go in the school holidays for the first time has made it a double whammy.
I did cost it and looked at AI to limit the euro impact but the prices were silly.
We are off to Cornwall in the caravan instead.0 -
I went self catering and found the Eroski supermarket to be very cheap for food and drink so I wasn't too affected by the weak pound. Wouldn't go in high season though - I'm off to Scarborough instead.0

Scarborough is lovely, I'm there now!Cogito ergo sum. Google it you lazy sod !!0

So, you're sat in a hotel bar, drinking alone, talking to an old barman .... and people wonder why I don't think a holiday would be a good idea.
I don't even know where Mallorca is without looking it up. . .
Are you there alone? Mr Billy No Mates?0 -

I went alone - doesn't mean I have no mates though. Just wanted to get away and do my own thing. There were quite a few single tourists about - don't think it is anything to be embarrassed about. Palma is a beautiful town - definitely worth seeing.0 -
Just back from Italy and it was so expensive with the Euro rate, so people just are not going to Europe, either further afield or stay in Blighty. Or going AI if they are having a holiday at all.
Whats the weather like? It was rarther chilly in Sicily.
Well i am back today and the weather was lovely for most of the time, odd cloudy/rainy day.0 -

Well i was in the bar with my family and the rest of the guests, we kinda got on really well, the entertainment guy and me.
Mallorca is one of the balearic islands along with ibiza and menorca. It is off the East coast of spain, kind of east of alicante.0 -
Counting down the days until we go to Portugal now :j
Couldn't care less about the exchange rate, I'm desperate for some sun and quite happy lying down with a glass of something nice purchased from the supermarket! It'll feel cheaper then being at home paying bills all the time.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
