chicken pox and the journey to school

I know this isnt anything to do with moneysaving but I'm in a bit of a predicament.
My son has just caught Chicken pox off his sister, who thankfully had them over the Easter holidays....and somehow I have to get children to school. We live about 2 miles away, which I know isn't far, but it is when you have a 4 year old who walks incredibly slow.
Usually we get the bus and walk on occasional days, but this am, its raining, and I really don't think I fancy letting my kiddies walk and sit in school damp for the day. Now I know I shouldn't really take him on a bus, he is covered and only went down with it on Friday evening, so nowhere near the past contagious stage yet...but I cannot keep the others off school until next week. They are 10 and 6 so I won't be letting them go and come home on their own, and also don't have anyone to do the trip for me.
What am I going to do?

Hmm....don't take him on the bus, what if there's a pregnant woman on the bus, especially when it only appeared on Friday.
Take the younger one in his old buggy - tell him a white lie about chicken pox dropping on the ground or something.
but please don't be so selfish as to deliberately put him in a position to pass it on.....
and if it's only two miles you could take a taxi there and walk back.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Haven't they got friends they could get a lift/walk into school with for a couple of days? No-one nearby doing the same school run you could ask?2015 wins: Jan: Leeds Castle tickets; Feb: Kindle Fire, Years supply Ricola March: £50 Sports Direct voucher April: DSLR camera June: £500 Bingo July: £50 co-op voucher0

No I know I can't take him on the bus....and no he has no friends or anyone round here that we know who goes to the same school. As for taxi...I have precisely £1.21 in my purse...so not an option. Guess its walking all week for us!!0

According to NHS 24 Scotland your son will have been contageous from 2 days before he went down with it until approx 5 days after. So I would get the bus. Check his spots and if they have scabbed over then you are fine as no longer infectious.0 -
do you have a buggy he would go in witht he raincover over--I would get the bus and keep him covered upTRYING hard to be a good money saver :rolleyes:0

I would get the bus to be honest... It's not like it's an air tight place like a plane... As long as he's not coughing, sneezing or rubbing his pox on people then they're at a very low risk of catching them off him...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... Id get the bus too. When DD had it (aged 3) my Dr said I was fine to carry on as normal, take her shopping and stuff. She said as long as no one actually touched the spots you wouldnt catch it. And as someone said ^ they are also contagious previous, when you have no idea.
You've prob already gone by now, but just thought Id give my opinion.0 -
whilst it's obviously after the school start time now... as a pregnant person I'd be less than impressed if someone brought a child with chickenpox on a bus... I know Krystal is pregnant too (hey due date buddy
) but maybe I'm more paranoid... a friend of mine caught CP (we're talking over 10 years ago btw) whilst pregnant and miscarried and is now unable to have children, so I appreciate my views are very strong about this...
Knowingly increasing the risk of passing it on is very inconsiderate in my view... it's one thing in the early stage when you don't know they have it and are infectious, but once you know then you should in my view do what you can to help prevent it spreading...

I thought it was Rubella (german measles) which was a problem for pregnant ladies, not chicken pox?Threadhead0
