    Thanks peeps.

I've spoke to retentions and they've offered me 600mins + 1000 txt for £15p/m with a phone. It's a good deal but I want to cut down my outgoings. Not interested in the phones and I would barely go over 150 mins

The virgin liberty is a good deal @ £10p/m but I want to stay on O2 so I can still benefit from the Broadband discount. So Simplicity it is.

Wouldn't be looking to try and get the quidco discount every month if it entailed changing networks every month, especially if it's seen as abuse of the system by Quidco. I thought it would be above board.

Redux.. I didn't quite understand this bit "Do a retentions deal on an ordinary contract, with a discount, and cash into the account for no new phone. This works out cheaper than Simplicity, and saves you having to mess about swapping network 24 times a year."

Should I barter with them on the initial retention deal they offered me? I told him I wasn't bothered about the phone, just the monthly cost and that's when he told me about Simplicity? How will it be cheaper than Simplicty (£10/pm)?

loofer - I think what Redux is trying to say is if you don't take a new handset as part of your upgrade, then the cost of the handset over 12/18/24months would be deducted from your line rental costs, effectively giving you overall cheaper cost per month on the same tariff. I think this is a very cost effective way to reduce your monthly outgoings, if you're not bother about updating to the latest handset every year.

Thanks for that guys. Just gave O2 a ring, They offered me 200mins and 400 txts at a discounted £10 (normally £25) for the full 18 months. Because I'm not taking a phone off them they will credit my mobile account with £150 on next bill! So effectively it's zilch for 15 months.

I wasnt expecting that much cashback. I didn't even know they did this if you opted to go without a phone. Don't know why the fiirst numpty didn't offer me that.

I clearly told him I wasn't intrested in a new phone but just wanted to reduce the cost.

    Thanks again redux and pallax_20

Quidco and 02 dont like ports and they say it will invalidate any cashback that is if it tracks, im waiting to do a port from 02 payg but my quidco didnt track from my 02 order and ive put a claim in but its mentioned on HUKD and on the quidco thread about porting invalidating your quidco, not worth it for £25.

Any links to the posts you mention? I asked Quidco about porting my number over to O2 simplicity and they stated that it wouldn't affect cashback. This was after creating a Quidco ticket and waiting for an update from O2.

If O2 to are anything like Voda I wouldn't hold your breath. I've been waiting over 2 years for a Voda transaction to pay out. Quidco aren't interested in chasing it, they just tell you that 'it's passed to the merchant' !!

Yes, you can't port with a pac to the same network. It's called a backdoor upgrade and none of the networks allow it.
As above, you have to port your number to another network and then back, that is the only way.

I know from experience that Orange will allow ports between their contract and PAYG services.

Hi sorry to ask but has anyone been able to port from an o2 simplicity to an o2 contract? Want to get SE W995 from e2save on o2 for 25quid a month - when rang up cs the best deal they could give me was this for 45, so going with e2save to get on lower deal per month but I want to keep my number. On e2save it said you had to ring and ask them whether it would work and he said that it would but he didnt seem that interested in talking at the time so I want to check whether anyone has actually done this?
    TIA

You can't 'port' (using a pac) within a network. Pac codes are for moving from one network to another. The only way to do it within the same network is to upgrade with that network, which mean you can't go through Quidco.

If you want to the Quidco cashback, then you have to port out to another networks payg, and then back after you've opened a new acc with O2 through Quidco. It's a bit long winded, but that's the point the networks don't want to make it easy for you. . .

Im not wanting to switch just to get the quidco cashback, I am switching on to o2 with e2save (online carphonewarehouse) because there monthly tariff is 20quid cheaper - when I asked o2 about going onto a conract from sim only they couldnt give me a good deal themselves and that 3rd parties take there network and come up with their own prices for the tariffs - hence how they are cheaper.
I have been told by both e2save and o2 that I can now port my number over from o2 to o2 using my PAC and that it has only been very recent that they have allowed this - which is why I'm asking has anyone actually managed to do this??
