haynes suggest 100,000 for all the petrol focus engine, and so does the generic handbook that comes with the car.
ive given my price as a rough guide and suggested no more than £200.no more than £70 for a belt kit for a belt kit and say 2 hours labour (varies, but not £65 per hour, mad if you pay more than that at an indie.)
stop being so pedantic jeanie:mad: see you've got me angry now.

That Kit includes Timing Belt, Tensioner & Fixing Bolts , do you reckon I will need any other parts?

 To you too - bear with a sore head.....

My previous Focus (53 reg) cam belt due at 60k - and it was petrol - so you need to update your haynes.. :p

My current one, petrol - no idea, not looked yet. But it should say in my handbook or I will get the guys at work to look it up in their big fat books! Either way I am not due in years or mileage for awhile yet.. :D

I'd get a genuine belt kit - they are not pricey from Fords - and would get a guy at work to do it, so could get it done cheaper than you :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

nobody has mentioned it because its not true. some have chains, i think the mondeo 2.0 tdci has a chain but most other ford tdci's are belts.

mine got the type c with a floating crankshaft pulley so he made a bit of a mess and rattled the valves. but true to his word he removed the head replaced all the valves, head gasket, done the timing belt and wouldnt take any more than the £140 he quoted, i got a fair deal i would say. oh and all genuine ford parts were fitted,i saw the strip down and got the receipts for the parts and a bag of old bent valves!

a good honest mechanic, they do exsist you know!

A good mechanic wouldn't have messed up in the first place though IMO he just corrected his mistakes
