How much for a cambelt change?

I have an 02 Ford Focus 1.8 TDCI that has done just approaching 90k miles, so looking to get the cambelt changed but have no idea how much this will cost.
Does anyone have any idea?
Thanks.

As a guide, i recently did this job on my Golf.

    Local indie garage quoted £150
    Main VAG dealer £230
Me a days labour and £22 for parts.

BTW,is this the first time its been done..i.e 90k on original belt? If so, I'd be scared to drive it round the corner...you are cutting it fine IMHO

Personally I would find out how much a genuine cam belt kit is, and find a good garage that would fit it for you. Probably about two hours work - but don't quote me on it.

All cars vary on how long etc. I would never leave a cam belt to 90k - I would be panicking by now..............

oh, I don't know. I had my old Astra done at 88k as I had no idea of the history. That said, I was going to do the 60k replacement schedule..except some tool wrote it off.

The new one has 53k on the clock, and I might get that done at 60kish, depending on what the handbook advises.

1.6 petrol focus cost £140 at a local independant. so theres a rough figure to help.

Is that how much it cost to do yours? If so at what mileage did you get the belt replaced? I think Ford recomend getting it done at 100,000 miles but I reckon that's far too long to leave it.

Hmm, your brave. Get it done regardless of what handbook states.

Thanks for your replies. Yes i also think i am cutting it fine with getting it done at 90k miles. I seemed to have lost track of time as to be honest we were looking to change the car before it needed changing but we can't seem to decide what car to buy. So rather than rush to buy a car now we have decided to get the cambelt sorted.
Will be ringing around today to get prices so will update on here. Fingers crossed it will hold out until we get it sorted.
    Thanks.

Well tha will add a good bit to the value of your car when you come to sell it. Use nail varnish and write in engine bay date amd mileage cambelt was changed alwaus helpful for next owner.

Well first quote is from a ford garage/rapid fit.
    It will cost minimum £400!!!
I'm afraid hubby not into car repairs,so this isn't something we can DIY. If we got a quote from an independant garage would it be any different then if we took it to a ford garage? Other then the price?
As when we have had it serviced before at an independant we had to take it to a ford garage as it wasn't 'firing on all cylinders'(if you know what i mean) and they couldn't find out what the problem was and also when they change the pollen filter it always starts leaking! Then take it to Ford garage and they know straight away and fix the problems but obvoiusly at an extra cost.
So don't want to have to do the same with this repair.
    Any advice?
