I'm frightened to death

Hello OP,
It sounds as if you're having a really stressful time. You know yourself that it's overwhelmingly likely that everything is fine with the baby, but you can't really believe this.
I think you should make an appointment with your GP and explain that you're suffering from major anxiety and having panic attacks; tell him/her that you're so stressed because you aren't being seen and/or reassured by the midwives. Ask to be seen by the midwife ASAP to be checked out and for more frequent appointments to set your mind at rest. This anxiety is not good for your or for your baby - I think your GP will be keen to resolve it by getting you seen more often. Make sure you don't get fobbed off by explaining in detail how you feel, what you imagine, how it's affecting you - hope you'll find some peace once the midwife care kicks in properly. You deserve to enjoy your pregnancy and feel fairly calm and relaxed!
Best wishes,
MsB0 -
Thanks everyone i know im being daft really its just this scan that is making me so nervous after everything that has happened to my friends and myself in the past. If i dont feel any better after the scan i will definately talk to my gp/midwife and see what they say.
Just to clarify i am in the west midlands and i was seen at 4 wks to book and in arrange an early scan due to the ectopic i had last year. I had my scan at 8 wks no midwife just a miserable sonographer who barely said a word to me just gave me some photos and said baby was where it should be. I then saw my midwife at 15wks she took my blood pressure asked if felt baby move and that was it and my next antenatal is at 24 weeks. Obviously if anything was wrong ie pain or bleeding i would have gone straight to the hospital i just think its not very good care compared to what you used to be offered. :-) x:jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0 -

Its seems like a viscious circle i worry then worry that the worrying is gonna cause a problem with the baby which makes me worry more.
:-( xx
Congratulations on your pregnancy! :T
I think being worried / scared is perfectly normal.
I was sooo paranoid throughout my entire pregnancy. I was forever worrying about things i was doing /eating etc even though I followed all the "rules". :rotfl:
I only relaxed once the little bundle was out and i could see she was fine.0 -
I book my own appointments and I use the NICe guidelines, so I had:
Gp when I got my BFP
Mw for booking in around 8 weeks
Scan at 12 weeks
Mw at 16 weeks
Scan at 20 weeks
GP at 25 weeks
Then i have:
Mw at 28 weeks and 31 weeks (that last one is first-timers only)
Mw at 34 weeks for double appointment
GP at 36 weeks
MW at 38 weeks
GP at 40 weeks (first-timers only)
and MW at 41 weeks if bubba is still in there.
So oyu can book all those too!
plus, my MW and Gp are happy for me to book other appointments or phone them if I'm worried (I had a mc before so i sometimes get panicky)
Just go and see them if you feel concerned and ask to hear the heartbeat - my GP is happy to do that for me any time. DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

just an update, as I can't sem to find the pregnancy thread referred to in page 1 (maybe I'm too tired - I can't see straight!).
Sprog is apparently fine and happy, and we have our first pics. Bleed is still in evidence, but it IS shrinking, party due to some coming out, partly I'm guessing reabsorbed. Guestimation was spot on too...12 weeks gone as of tomorrow.
It's quite a relief. Now I have to arrange the midwife visit in 3 weeks, and the 19 week scan in 7. Missus has been fed (I've learned to cook!), and gone to bed, cats and animals are all sorted, I've got the money sorted for the new car as mine was written off on monday (what timing), and I'm still eyeball deep in insurance, then there's the small matter of work.
I could sleep for a week, I really could. I'll be relieved to actually hold this sprog, assuming all goes well - it's like keeping several very expensive plates spinning at the same time! I'm giving thought to keeping a diary of sorts, starting nowish...my mum did similar, and it's nice to read back and see where you came from, as it were - for you and for sprog.
Or am I just getting soppy..hmm..0 -
Sirbendy, pleased to hear all is well with baby, hope you can relax a little now. Sounds like you're being a great 'Daddy to be' and looking after Mummy well - which is the way it should be! A diary is a great idea, always meant to do one myself but I've had three babies now and still haven't got round to it. Their 'baby books' are sadly neglected too but I have a good record of all their milestones in my mind - just hope that doesn't go haywire anytime soon.0

Ive got two more sleeps as the kids would put it till i have my scan reading all this has helped me a great deal i'm not quite so anxious as i was. I will let you all know how i get on. :-) x:jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0 -
sirbendy - pregnancy thread is always near the top in Marriages, Relationships & Families.
Xmas - good luck, you'll be fine. After having a much younger sister I also count events down in number of sleeps.
1 more sleep to go for me!!A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea
Where does the time go? :think:0 -
I count down in sleeps too, and am also terrified of things going wrong with the baby. I produced a notebook at my meeting with the doctor today that is filled with questions I wanted to ask about labour and delivery. He answered them all, and even answered them with the answers I wanted to hear.
It seems to me that we should trust our instincts and if we feel that something is wrong we shouldn't be afraid to insist on a heartbeat check or a referral for an emergency scan. Even if everything's ok, it's good for the stress levels to know.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76
