Ah well you can always sell it on ebay.

How are you managing to post here?
Some machine must be connected in some way
As stated in my first post, I have a desktop computer. This disconnected for a few minutes when i tried to get the wireless router going. At that point i managed to get the laptop connected to the internet.(Only for a few minutes )
I dont want to sell a new laptop, I want to get it connected to the internet.

What ISP are you with? It's not Virgin Media is it? Their modems have USB and Ethernet.

If the desktop's connected via USB, and you connected the new router to the modem via ethernet, that could explain the problem where you lost internet on the desktop for a bit.

You can't use both ports on the modem. You'd need to connect the desktop to the router via ethernet, and connect the ethernet's wan port to the modem.

Just a stab in the dark. :)

I meant sell the dongle that you don't need not, the laptop.

So the desktop is connected by a cable to the router?

Can the laptop see the router?

Have you managed to connect the laptop via a cable to your router and then to the internet?

If you have already tried the Diagnose and Repair option when connected wirelessly what does it say?

Can you access the routers home page from your wireless connection (put 192.168.2.1 into your browser window and hit enter to do this)?
