Help please! New Contract but no mobile coverage for my area!

Hi (my first post but I’ve been receiving the weekly email since just after they started)

I signed up yesterday (through Carphone Warehouse) to the T-Mobile new Flexi tariff (with a period of ½ price line rental).

I got the phone home last night & found there is no T-Mobile coverage in my house (or immediate surrounding area)

I’m gutted as I’ve just checked the Carphone Warehouse documentation & their 14 exchange policy does not include T-mobile contracts.

I intend to speak to them this morning but does anyone have any advice on my rights or the best way to approach them on this? Could they be persuaded to change me to a different provider or do I have a right to cancel?

If so does anyone have any recommendations on similar packages from other providers?

Thanks, nick

    Hi Nick,

You wont be able to cancel but should be able to switch your network. Obviously any "deal" you get is subject to what that network is offering.

    Hope this helps.

    This is interesting,
If you ordered through the internet/phone then you should be entitled to a 14 day cooling off period. However I've checked some sites (mobileshop.com) for example, and they say T-Mobile are not included on 14 day cooling off.

I wonder what makes T mobile so special that they can avoid the law? (14 day cooling off period should apply to mobile contracts, someone correct me if im wrong)

Thanks for the advice, just unfortunate I'm in a bit of a blackspot for coverage - '3' looks ok for coverage though - bit I'm still not convinced by the chunky phones & service they provide.

Thanks, I bought the package from a carphone warehouse shop (most unlike me as I usually look for online deals) - but they seemed to be offering a good deal.

I'm not sure why Carphone W exclude T-Mobile from this 14 day 'cooling off' period either - any sugestions welcome.

Unfortunatly its a policy of Tmobile, not cpw or any other store. I'd love to know why they do it, because its more than annoying.

Its for this reason that the pink v3's that were sold by phones4u were only on tmob - so they couldnt be returned (phones were from Africa and did not have UK warrentees).

Ignore the quote - You CAN 14 day the contract. Especially when you have no coverage. T-Mobile like to say there is no returns policy but ALWAYS back down when push comes to shove. We used to display the same message in Phones 4 U but took it down bout 2 years ago when it proved as much use as a chocolate fireguard - people still bout them back and we let them return it. Do note that this applies to contracts only, if its PAYG then you're stuck :x

Oh and the reason why we put the V3 pinks on T-mobile first was to try and boost sales in the network as they were joint last with orange for network of choice (well sales wise).

I did not renew my contract with t-mobile because of no coverage downstairs in my house but upstairs was ok.

T- mobile insisted the coverage in my area was ok but even outside my house I got no signal.

Would never sign up to t-mobile again.

I stand corrected. Except about the stock source part, yes? :)
