Hi can anyone help me.

I have a Nokia 6230i on Vodafone (Ireland) and need the restriction code, the IMEI: 357065008546147. Also can someone please tell me how I go about entering the code as I have seen mixed reports, do I have to put in a SIM card into the phone, then enter the code?
