Do you count it and bag it up yourself - my bank (Nationwide) won't take it. They say they don't take money over the counter:cool:
I have taken it into the supermarket with those machines that take 7.5% but I currently have about £150 so thats over a tenner gone before I start.
sorry - I haven't read over old posts as I'm tired, been awake since 4.00 this morning, the lights were on downstairs and I thought we had burglars
Jo
I'm also with Nationwide - their policy is to take 5 bags at a time so I think your cashier might have been being lazy
Saying that, the 5 bag policy is annoying if you have loads of coins!Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)0 -

Lesley, well done, you have got a great amount in your jar!
M2MG well done on adding to your pot
Daisy, I bag my change up and take it to the bank. Banks should take it, I’m very surprised that yours wouldn’t. Those change machines at supermarkets are daylight robbery IMHO. As long as change is bagged up as per the instructions on the bag – in other words, only one type of coin in each bag and the right amount as specified, then the bank should take it. Some banks do have a 5 bag limit as others have said. I would try again at the bank. Sorry to hear you had such a bad night, must have been scary thinking you had burglars. Glad you didn’t tho
WelcomeSharon, nice to have you joining in with us. What a great job you have – all that free money! I’m always looking for road kill, never thought of looking for it at the cinema! :rotfl:
Hugs Focus, hope things improve for you financially. Things are tough here for us too, we are really struggling. Have had two lots of insurance to pay out in one week – contents and new car insurance! Ouch!
So far this week I haven't spent my £10 so it looks like I will have the whole lot to put in the pot! Yay! :T"Snowflakes are one of nature's most fragile things, but just look what they can do when they stick together."

Thanks - I actually went to Nationwide with 2 bright shiny tenners to pay a credit card bill - that was when they said they wouldn't take cash - I therefore took my cash to Barclays and even tho I'm not a customer they were more than happy to take my cash:T
I have only tried to take bagged up cash to Britannia where I have a Building society account and they only seem to take 3 bags at a time - they only give out 3 bags and give the same back when you hand stuff in.
I'm going to go to Nationwide tomorrow and ask for cash bags so I can get started
I'll show them proof of my account
I'll offer to sacrifice my first born on their counter (he's 7 so there may be a bit of a struggle there)
I'll offer them what's left of my virtue (not a lot)
Wil they be able to resist??
I'll be back tomorrow to report on progressTotal debt at 01/01/2010 £34,262 (Excludes mega mortgage) Daily interest £12.42
02/10 Now £3.12 due to repayments, BT and :money:

Hey morning everyone,
Daisy ive been reading alot about how nationwide have been refusing money from customers lately, find it all very strange. Who was the cc bill with you were trying to pay off? does that have something to do with it?
Still no change to add to the pot.will keep trying.

I've managed to hit the low target I set myself for this week, which was £5 monday to friday. At the start of next month I'll set myself a larger target for the month, i think!
