Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
Nail strips, broken glass etc are all out, apart from being very extreme it's the bottom bar of the fence they're climbing on, if it's a ranch style fence.

Pine tree sap is pretty sticky and horrible - collect some of that and paint it on where their hands would hold onto the fence? If you can't get that, what about a cheap bottle of squeezy honey/brown sauce/something sticky but harmless?

Having thorny bushes on the other side of the fence won't deter them, will it?

Prikka strip is being sold on Ebay, perfectly legal, shown on BBC "Beat the Burglar"
Says to keep away from children but spikes can be sanded apparently, so making it uncomfortable to sit on rather than piercing the little darlings bottoms. In six colours but not white.

Ive just invested in some of that prikka strip waiting for it to arrive. we have a similair problme with the shared alley to the back of the ajoining properties for some reason the kids seem to think the gate is a climbing frame. The parents dont care on jot and wont do anything about it. Maybe this will put them off no doubt the little swines will figure out a way of getting it off. I do like the vaseline idea they always seem to be in designer clothes maybe having them wrecked will make them think twice. :-) x

melt a few pounds of lard in a saucepan, lovingly drizzle on the wall or fence, et voila.

washing the area in a strong Jeyes fluid solution is always another good one, they don't like the stink of that on their clothes!

If it is not a painted fence, greasote it and the parents will soon stop them climbing on it, also blame the kids for wiping the stuff off and you having to keep re-painting.

How about poision ivy as a plant?
