Yep there's definitely an aspect of that I think NIM. But my sis is also married to an English guy too, and she lives in Copenhagen! So I am not the first either.
I definitely think standing firm is the only way to go. Mum's been trying the old emotional blackmail for years to try to get me back from London. My Gran telling me that she never sleeps a wink at night and how selfish I am for staying there - eek! Then they said they'd buy me a house if I moved home, etc etc. I probably wouldn't be making such a big deal of getting married here if they hadn't been so disrespectful and tried to steamroller over my choices for almost a decade. But it's my home here now. I don't know why they take that so personally.
The only thing to do is get on with it, eh? Prove that the choices we made were good ones, and there's no need for any drama.:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -
Well said Lara!
Good morning so far, got NIM and I some free cinema tickets for next Monday. No idea what the film is like, but hey, its free and we get a date night. Its also payday, and we have a free 1/4 chicken from nandos card, so might go get ourselves a very cheap meal afterwards, will only cost about £10 for a side for the chicken for NIM, and a chicken breast burger and pineapple and a side for me and two refillable drinks.
STILL forgot to weigh in - will stick a reminder to my head tomorrow!
Some ebay items finished, made about £45, then ebay took £35 for last months fees!!! Their fees really are crazy now. I'm starting to doubt if we're actually making any money on the more marginal things like random accessories, but then a bidding war ensues over a pair of shoes I thought might make £3 and end up at £20 so I just don't know!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

I know Dinah, that's the only time I make any money is an unexpected bidding war. Had a couple of bags sell for about £7 last time around and I really regretting not making the starting bid higher. No more ebay for me for a while I don't think.
What film are you going to see? G-Force is still on tomorrow so might go along for that, see what OH says. I also want to see Time Traveler's Wife, but why are all the films on at like 6pm so you don't have time for tea after work, or half nine so you don't get home til midnight? They're never on at 8 or something. Grr.Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
Ebay - People are obviously only interested in the important things - Shoes in this case.
Certainly does not help that Ebay keeps changing its mind about fees.
PS - OH has booked Australia for beginning of November so I have 2 weeks on my own then she is back. 5 days peace then my Dad arrives for a 5 day visit. This is going to be fun. Oh think of the money saving while she is away. Less shopping to buy, less petrol used, less electricity, less water and the bed to myself! I am going to miss her lots - NO Really!0 -
I think its called Funny People? The free films are on at the unpopular times as they'll fill the screens later anyway, so they're not about to give the prime seats away. I don't mind the time to be honest, I just resent paying £8 a ticket so like the saving!
Got bored last night, straightened my hair, its scary long!
ETA: Why aren't you going to Australia too Poolie?! I'm not going to see NIM until 11pm tonight, and we're not handling that well so I can't imagine 2 weeks apart!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

I wasn't talking about the free ones - the fully-paid ones! Grr. Again.
Poolie, your OH's off to Oz and not taking you? I'd sack my OH if he did that to me! Bed to yourself, can I presume the bear has been repressed?
Straighteners ... hmm, I bought those expensive GHD ones in Feb and have used them once :wall:Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -

Heehee, have this vision of you in your bedroom, just floorboards and a fruit crate to sit on, everything else sold off to pay the debt!

Australia - She is going over to see her friend with one of her friends from here. I was not allowed to go because we have bills to pay! I dont mind.
Her friend from here (Edinburgh) is going to fly down the evening before they fly. Just trying to get her to fly BMI instead of EasyJet as she will have a case and Heathrow is nearer to home than Gatwick. Plus less chance of lost luggage.
OH is also off to see her Parents in China at Christmas with my sister. I am working Christmas week so not too bothered. Plus gives me time to see friends and get to the gym. That is another fortnight trip.0 -
Tete - the bears appear to have given up their attempts to take over the bed and flat. Obviously know they cant win becuase we have to supply the honey. Therefore they would rather co-exist that battle for overall control0
