That is a shame about the plot Dinah but I am sure you will find another great one.

Ohh the cake thing is exciting, I would charge a little for labour as well. Still is nice to be asked though even if you don't make any profit.

I am doing some online learning this afternoon. Am doing a quailifcation through work and involves learning online and then have to do a mini online exam each month and two real exams after 6 months and a year. Not leanring anything particularly new yet!

    Evening everyone!

Congratulations Tinkerbel on passing your exams and getting such good grades! :T

Have fun dress-trying on Birdie! If you find something you like you'll have to post a picture - DOTD style! :p

Sorting out a stall for your paintings is exciting Dinah! I'm sure your paintings are fab, I can't wait to see some pics of them! (Cuz, like Birdie, I am nosey!) :D

And what a compliment to be asked personally to make someone a birthday cake! I agree with the others - I'd add a little extra on top of the cost of materials.

I haven't felt very well today - really cold and feel sick. So am having a night in watching Celebrity Masterchef and other stuff my OH doesn't like - I may even go the whole hog and get out Pretty Woman. :p

Hope everyone has a good night/weekend!

  • Sorry this is a bit of a quick response, but asking about Christmas Craft fairs etc. Have you tried the Lincoln Christmas Market. I have no idea what they charge for a stall but it is a 4 day event. It may be worth you enquiring.

    :)
My finances are work in progress.
    Normal veiwing will resume shortly
  • Dinah - The Christmas fairs sound great and I am sure you will be able to find some more over the summer.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Lincoln is too far for me I'm afraid, but nice to meet you savingforarainyday :) It's all a bit real and scary right now. Will feel better if my painting goes well tomorrow.

In other news, while doing some research for a MS, I discovered NIM and I could fly to New York in Autumn for £288 per person with KLM or Air France. AND we could stay in central New York in a nice 3* for under £500 total for a WEEK. So, for less than a grand after cashback, a week in New York, one of my dream destinations, someone tell me how to convince NIM!

    HI Dinah

I'm a bit of a lurker on your thread but thought I'd try and contribute! Re: New York - why don't you see it as a treat for reaching a goal. An incentive will make you work that much harder. My OH and I went to New York a couple of years ago and had such a great time. I know I'd love to go again. BTW - trailfinders is offering flights to NY from £239 but they probably leave from Heathrow/GAtwick. Worth a look http://flights.trailfinders.com/Email/Economy/New-York

    Back to lurking!

Quick, someone give me a goal! By October we should be at 25% deposit saved.... so could go in November to celebrate?! Bit of a large celebration for a small goal!

Thanks for the link Urg, and very nice to meet you. Unfortuantely I think once you add on travel from here it's probably cheaper to go KLM Newcastle-Amsterdam Amsterdam-New York.

Does anyone know which airport it is in New York where the runways cross over that has the poor safety record?! Don't want to go to that one! Clearly I watch far too much 'Seconds from Disaster' but I have the option of Newark or JFK I think it is, and want the safer one.
