Can you recommend a router for use with NTL?

Afternoon everyone. We have NTL broadband serving one home P.C. I've just acquired a laptop, WiFi enabled and understand I need to get a cable router. I've looked at Netgear RP614 which I can get at a good price (£30.50). Will it do the job? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks. Tim.

I also have NTL 1mb broadband so I decided to go wireless. I purchased a linksys 2.4ghz wireless broadband router (model: BEFW11S4) from pc world and it works great. I struggled a bit to set it up though and ended up calling a mate of mine to assist (one of those techy wizz kids). DO REMEMBER that if you contact NTL they will not give you any assistance in setting up a wireless connection, their famous quote "we don't support that type of router".

NTL shop is a bit expensive: http://www.ntlshop.ntlworld.com/webstore/Default.aspx

    or theres always:

    Hi,

That will do the job just fine, I've just set it up for a friend and it works fine - not the greatest wireless range on it though. Just remember to set up security on any wireless network - you don't want your neighbours using your connection now!

We have a wireless network using NTL broadband. Ours was professionally set up using a Netgear WGR614 which you can buy for about £40 incl VAT here on ebuyer

Hi. I picked up my wireless router (a D-Link DI-524) for £20 at a computer fair. It took about a half hour to set up and I've had four computers running happily off it for a couple of months now with no problems. It has been a godssend as it has stopped my teenagers from trying to murder each other over hogging computer time. :T
You can always get more with a kind word and a 2-by-4 than with just a kind word.

Ive 2meg Broadband with NTL. I purchased LinkSys Wrt54G With Speedbooster. Perfect. Up and running dead quick.
Only had one problem, MAC address got changed somehow, I contacted LinkSys Live Support, someone got in touch with me within a minute, and problem solved inside 5. Very impressed with their support.

Ive never had any problems, no disconnections, good range.

A year later, a friend ask me and I recommended this. He purchased it and he is extremely happy with it also.

Don't spend five pounds to dry clean a shirt. Donate it to the charity shop instead. They'll clean it and put it on a hanger. Next morning buy it back for two pounds.

Im really confused by all this techie jargon... so how does the router work?? do you just place it near the laptop and it picks up the internet signals from your broadband on the home pc?
