Talking of fitness - http://www.marieclaire.co.uk/lifestyle/best/11187/1/1/tips-for-getting-fit.html - so this is why I got a flat stomach when I was running lots and not when I was doing lots of sit-ups!This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Afternoon Inky.....
Eh up Sammyblooomin eck - its £49 for a twelve week swimming course for adults here.....
I can't put my face in water. I used to have to wear glasses when I swam so looked like a turtle....now I have a fear of putting my face in the water but I would truly love to swim like mermaz...
Glad I'm not the only turtle :rotfl:how come you used to wear glasses - have you since had your eyes lasered or gone onto contacts ?Don't Take Life too Seriously - Nobody gets out alive :rotfl:0 -

Hello Lenny - congratulations to you & Mrs Lenny on the birth of Harry.
Yes, I'm back been having a "poor me" month & feeling sorry for myself, got told off by Sammy though, she said that's time when I need you all & shouldn't of stayed awayDon't Take Life too Seriously - Nobody gets out alive :rotfl:0 -

get some goggles, as it takes away a great portion of the problem straight away.. i never wore goggles cause they never got wet... now i honestly can't live without them... if i do forget them, i always borrow a pair from lost property.
start by standing in shoulder height water... so you can stand but you can also look down and put your face in, if you wanted to.....
place your face in really gently... i assure you, if you do it gently nothing will go up your nose, and your eyes are protected... you can hold your breath at this point if you like.
then repeat and repeat and repeat until the trepidation subsides a bit... then place your face in again holding your breath but this time blow out slowly... make sure you blow outwards, and not in an upwards puff(think blowing your fringe away from your eyes), as this can blow water up your nose inadvertantly.
so you're going face in, holding a few secs, then blowing gently out... and then you lift your face out, take a deep breath in, hold it, and stick your face gently in the water again........
and there you are.. breathing like a swimmer.... first hurdle overcome...
After that you start each push off from the side of the pool by taking that deep breath and placing your face in the water, push off with your feet and hey ho! you're half a width over before you lift your face out.....
if i can do it, anyone can...!
I've got some nice purple goggles, just need to get past the thought that the water's gonna go in my ears & up nose
No excuses really, I've got the sea across the road from me & a swimming pool 5 minutes walk awayDon't Take Life too Seriously - Nobody gets out alive :rotfl:0 -
