I'd trust anyone with Hong Kong Phooey as an Avatar!!! :D
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

You could send me £30 and I'd flush it down the loo for you.

Or you could send them £30 and effectively do the same thing. :D

I've read most of your posts on here Toothsmith and you seem to know what you're talking about...being a dentist and all.

I would love nothing more than to turn my dentist for the bleaching treatment but I simply can't afford it...is there ANY home bleaching kits that you would give your seal of approval? I'd go with what you recommend!

    Nobody NEEDS their teeth whitening.

If you can't afford it - don't do it!!!!

If you get a dodgy kit and bu&&er up you mouth, you will then NEED a lot of expensive remedial work - that you also won't be able to afford.

They get everywhere. Even Tesco have teamed up with one in their clubcard deals:

Looks good as they say their price is "from" £499 so would only need about £125 of tesco vouchers. Erm wondering what "from" i£499 is though ..............wouldnt be per tooth would it  :D

    ..Hi

A colleague of mine's girlfriend works in a dentist where they usually charge £300-£400 for teeth whitening. I asked if she could do it for mates rates and she said she could do it for £100.

Ive got these trays and she has given me a couple of syringes to fill them with bleach.

Now the bleach is Daywhite ACP 7.5 Hydrogen Peroxide whitening gel.

My teeth have been getting really sensitive as it is recently (brushing them with baking soda cant have helped!)

I was about to put the bleach in the trays just then. The girl told me I should leave them in overnight. Is that right? Some places on the net are saying that 30 mins are enough. Should I leave them in overnight? Im sure she said to do that everynight for two weeks.

    Im confused?

What do you think I should do?

Is this girl a dentist? Has a dentist seen this kit / your teeth? If yes to either of those, get back there and discuss your problems with them.

If no, I think you should stop using it, and go and see your own dentist!

Meanwhile I shall merge you into our long teeth whitening discussion, which you might find it instructive to read.

I'm assuming 'the girl' is a dentist, and all of this was actually done in the dental surgery???

If you have any concerns, then youshould go back and discuss them with her.

If this was a dental nurse, and it wasn't sorted out in the practice, then it's soooo wrong, I don't know where to begin!

Please clarify if your mate's girlfriend is a dentist or not?

    Hi

She isnt a dentist herself. But I had my impression/mould/trays done there (at the dentists that she works in).

I text my friend today and got him to ask her how long I should leave them in for. She said no longer than 40minutes. Im going to give them a go tonight for 20 minutes to see how it goes...

Were the impressions done by a dentist - or did this friend just open the place up and do them herself?

Do her employers know that she has done this?

Has she paid for the stuff?

    Hola again :)

She done them herself in the dentists. But there was a problem with the top ones not fitting properly so I went in again to get them checked out.

When I went in the dentist herself was there and done another impression on the top set using a syringe to get the blue stuff around my gums better and she checked the bottom ones and said they were ok.

I guess from this her employers know. I dont know if she has paid for the stuff mate. I thought I did!
