Can you swallow? When I am at the dentist I make so much saliva and dentist has to keep stopping whilst I swallow in spite of the sucker gadget...its just nerves I know but hard to control! And stupid to be nervous after childbirth times 3!

I have seen no reports of drowning patients in dental chairs! I'm sure you'd be fine.

But go for the other method anyway!!!!!!!!
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

There is another alternative - have them all removed and get some fake gnashers and then you can choose the colour.

But what shade were they when you started ie how many shades does your dentist say they have lightened?????????? Maybe you had pretty white teeth to start with. There must be an average no of shades teeth will lighten with home bleaching. I remember when I had my crown done the dentist showed me a chart to see the colour it would be and my teeth are practically as dark and horrid as can be. I am sixty but I don't drink coffee, the weakest of tea and very little red wine! So its just unfair.

To be honest, I can't remember what shade my teeth were to start with. I wish now I had taken some 'before' photos. All I can say is they were average!:o Not particularly yellow, but certainly not white. I think they lightened by about 6 shades.

How much your teeth will whiten is a very individual thing, and can't always be accurately predicted. As I said in a previous post, the in surgery bleaching didn't have much effect with me, and that couldn't be predicted. My dentist was as disappointed as I was :o Obviously age is a factor, as teeth yellow with the normal ageing process:mad: I am 52, and my teeth were sort of 'average' for my age, but they certainly aren't now!:D

I would say if you can afford it, go for it. I bet you'll get brilliant results and be pleased:j

i'm trying the crest whitening strips off ebay (sorry toothsmith!!)

i have to say i've not noticed much difference yet, but i am only on day 2.

i haven't had any sensitivity at all but i keep the strips well away from my gums and clean off any excess with a cotton bud.

will let you know how i get on!
:p It is better to be thought of as an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt
  • I did try a teeth whitening product which worked for me. Its a light activated teeth whitening procedure. I got it at www.perfectlywhite.com
I noticed a huge difference in just 4 days.

    You again!!

And a different website this time?

Still hawking your toothwhitening torch I see.

Why not be honest and tell people the torch does nothing. The teeth go whiter because your kit has 35% ( ) Carbamine peroxide in it!!

To supply this to the public is just stupid! I avoid using it and I'm a dentist!!!!

No wonder you have to keep changing websites - they'll catch up with you one day though.

Hi. For those who want to whiten your teeth for free in just 3 days there is a new product on the market. They are offering their new 3 day whitening kit for free until the end of the month. You just have to pay the S&H. Still cheap in my opinion. This site sells the same kits on e-bay for $70. They also have over 1000+ feedbacks. This is a very trusted website.
I tried the product and it worked! It took me 5 days to get the results I wanted. I have badly discolored teeth so it took longer than the 3 days. They also have some sort of contest and if they use your before and after shots on there website they will pay you $100 for the rights.
I give it 2 thumbs up. This was the best freebie I ever had!
    Its www.freewhiteningkits.com

I want to whiten my teeth. I already use tooth whitening toothpase (reputable brands like arm & hammer) twice a day but they could be whiter.

I looked in boots today and tooth whitening/bleaching kits are about £9 onwards.

Does anybody know of a cheaper way?

Baking soda is always in the cupboard but can it be used on it's own or will I spend thenext few days being sick?

    Hi,
Toothpastes won't work!! Teeth whitening is a bit of a challenge and does require you to spend a little bit, but that doesnt mean you have to spend $500 a session. I did however just do a zoom whitening and it was great! If however you are looking at something more reasonably priced, there are a lot of options out there. You could check out http://www.teethwhiteningzoomm.com for reviews on home and office whiteners. I think they also have some money saving teeth whitening deals there too.
    Good Luck

Like the sound of this! Roughly how long does it take to make a noticeable difference? Am really conscious about my off-white teeth. :-[

It should take long 20-30 mins, up to 4 teeth whitening sessions was about all I needed

  • Be carefull with this stuff, after all it is your teeth! I would recomend you read some reviews on home teeth whitening kits at http://teethwhiteningzoomm.com - they also have good discounts on whitening products

Has anyone else tried this? Is it still effective if you are already using whitening toothpaste?

Will give it a go - realise I am sounding like a doubting Thomas. :)

Bought a tub of bicarb yesterday to clean with so may as well try the teeth technique as well.
