MMmmm - another 'service' outside the law in the UK.
To muck about with 22% carbamine peroxide with no dental supervision is taking an extremely reckless gamble with your teeth.
Would you be connected with this company by any chance? How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
Whether you think you can, or think you can't, you are usually right.0

I am not a professional or anything so sorry for butting in on the thread but I have also toyed around with ways to whiten my teeth and I have found the following to be effective:
Quit smoking
Cut out coffee (donwn to one cup a day) and red wine (can't drink it anyway now as I have gotten my tastebuds back after quitting smoking!)
Used a 'rapidwhite' tooth whitening kit for 7 days (cost about £9.99)
And now just use Arm & hammer enamel care daily.
It's worked for meWas debt free... then went travelling!0 -
Quitting smoking is just about the best thing you can do for your mouth and teeth for many reasons.
The Rapid white probably just bleached the brown stains.
Personally, I would recommend a visit to the dentist to get a hygienist appointment. That way, the crud is removed rather than just glossed over! How to find a dentist.

I've just been discussing tooth whitening with my dentist. He says its a personal choice whether to spend an hour + in front of his machine or have the gum shields made up and use them for approx 3 weeks. The cost for either is £450 (London prices!).
He says the advantage of the gum shields is that topping up is easy and if I do get sensitivity I can have a break from the whitening and use sensodyne pronamel for a day and then continue; but that some people the all in a day treatment is quicker and more convienient.
I am thinking of having this done before having a veneer on a front tooth.

I would say that the slower option is probably more stable over the long term. How to find a dentist.

IMO, I would definitely go for the 'at home' method. It may take longer initially, but you will need to top up the whitening, and if you haven't got the bleaching trays you will be paying out another £450:eek:
I started off with the in surgery bleaching, but it didn't actually whiten my teeth very much, and my dentist (bless him:D ), then made up the bleaching trays for me at no extra cost, as we were both disappointed with the results. That was 3 years ago, and I've been 'topping up' every couple of months since with great results.
BTW, if you do go for for the bleaching trays, once you have used your original syringes, take a look at www.dentist.net I get my supplies from them, and they are about 40% cheaper than my dentist. I know Toothsmith says don't trust online suppliers, and I can fully understand why, but I am 99.9% sure that they are a bona fide company, selling genuine products.

Be wary of diy home bleaching kits - you could be doing a wealth of damage to your teeth, best to go to a dentist (who is trained in all things to do with the teeth and mouth). To stop staining on your teeth, stop smoking and drinking red wine.
Anyway brilliantly white teeth are usually thinner than non-white teeth.0 -

I'll go along with the 'stop smoking' advice 100%, but there's no need to give up red wine, it's good for you:D I drink red wine (a little!) nearly every evening, and my teeth are sparkling white. I also drink a couple of cups of coffee a day.
IMO, I don't think there is a need to give up the things you enjoy (apart from smoking:eek: ) in your quest for whiter teeth;)
