    Hi SparkyG

I have today checked dentist.net and I can see no reference to Excel for the Nite White ACP, is this still the same product and they have just removed Excel from the description? I could see Nite White Excel Turbo ACP, this isn't the one is it?

I am definitely going to order some as soon as you confirm.

    Many thanks

    Hi Foxy

The Nite White ACP is the one I have used , NOT the Turbo. Don't know why they have dropped the 'Excel', but I can see from the pic of the box it is the same one.

I was looking at the dr collins complete set that includes the moulds to form yourself at home but is this as good as the nite white gel??

Personally I wouldn't go anywhere else except my dentist to start with. I get my refill supplies from dentist.net as it's so much cheaper than the syringes which my dentist sells, and he doesn't mind!!:D He made up and supplied the original kit.

I do agree wtih Toothsmith that bleaching should be ok'd and supervised by your own dentist who knows the condition of your teeth and gums.

    Hi,
Do you think I still need to go see my dentist about it even though I have bleached my teeth in the past with no problems? (about 3 years ago)

Its just that its almost impossible to get an appointment unless its an emergency and I don't think it is!?

JMO, but I wouldn't do ANYTHING to my teeth without getting my dentist's ok first, but a lot of people do.....:D

  • I too ordered from dentist.net after reading the start of this thread and would advise the following.

Firstly visit your dentist, you only get one set of adult teeth that have to last your lifetime. I had my teeth professionally whitened 2.5 years ago and still have the moulds, the boil in a bag or whatever you call them are IMO, a dreadful substitute for professionally made moulds. My colleague was so impressed with the results of my whitening treatment she made an appointment to see her dentist to have the same treatment. She came away having being told she needed urgent treatment to save her teeth ! A big shock but it proves how important it is to visit your dentist. (her teeth are fine now and she has, this year, had them whitened)

Your teeth are important to how you look, it's the first thing I notice about a person. Why scrimp/take a risk on something so important to your looks/health.

I have just visited the hygenist to have my teeth cleaned so that they're in the best condition before I start to whiten them.

One last thing, keep off the red wine/coffee afterwards!. I did for about a year but one bottle of red led to another hence the reason why I am having to whiten again.

Thanks Sparkyg for recommending the site, in total I paid £40.69 (6 + 3 at a reduced price) They have an expiry date of March 2008. Ordered on 12 Nov received 21 Nov.

    hi

i want to have my teeth whitened as an birthday/xmas present to myself.

i have two capped teeth at the front, so if i have it done surely my two "false teeth" will not match my newly white teeth?

would my dentist be willing to make new caps that will be the correct colour?

    any feedback appreciated

    cheers

    That is correct.

    Are the crowns old?

Sometimes, the teeth around darken with age & abuse(!) and the crowns then appear lighter. If this is the case, then whitening may well match everything up again.

I would guess so. Especially if you'd had the crowns quite some time anyway.

It is possible that if there is something slightly 'dodgy' about the crowns but they aren't causing any problem, then the dentist MAY be reluctant to touch them for fear of starting off a problem.

Also, every time a tooth has a drill taken to it (And changing a crown does involve a little bit of drilling) then some damage is done.

If a tooth is 'damaged' there is always a chance something nasty may happen.

In the case of just changing a couple of crowns, you would be VERY unlucky if anything bad did happen, but it is not a completely risk free proceedure.

Listen carefully to your dentist's advice.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

    thanks toothsmith.

tbh my teeth are quite yellow looking obviously through a few years of smoking, and drinking coffee etc. the dentist has matched the caps to my teeth so they are not exactly pure white to start.

i was just bothered that if all my natural teeth are bright white the caps will look yellow and false in comparison. just dont want waste my money so getting all questions out of the way before i cough up!!
