years of smoking have taken their tol on my teeth and I am fed up of it.
I have been looking on Ebay at crest whitestrips and am considering buying some but I do not want to waste money on yet another product that does not work.
I am looking at the premium 7 day kit.
Has anyone used these and what were the results like please? Was it moreor more :lipsrseal

Have you stopped smoking? How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
hi toothsmith
yes I have 6 weeks now0 -
Excellent. That's the best thing you can do for your teeth.
Now - when was the last time a dentist saw them? How to find a dentist.

I last saw a dentist about 6 or 8 months ago, my teeth are in ok nick, i use Blanx toothpaste with Oral B electric toothbrush, use mouthwash and floss regulary. The Blanx has helped and does clean my teeth really well I would just like whiter teeth0

That's good as well.
I can't recommend Crest whitestrips, as I don't know what's in them, or it's strength, or the effects of long term use on your teeth.
Do not believe that just because it's allowed to be on sale, it's safe.
Pearl drops used to be highly abrasive (It's not anymore)
A lot of over-the-counter whiteners are acidic. Yes- they will whiten your teeth - by taking off the stained layer of enamel.
Frequent use can leave you with a lot less enamel than you started with.
All chemicals that whiten teeth will have no effect on white fillings or crowns. So if you have a few of these, and they've been matched to your teeth as they are, you could end up with a very wierd looking result.
Some teeth change colour better than others.
Also, some chemicals can damage your gums. This includes the carbamine peroxide chemicals which dentists use.
My professional advice MUST be not to do anything without having a word with your dentist. If you do something harmful and irreversible, it will take all your 'fag money' for a very long time to put right again - if at all.
Best to spend a bit of your fag money having it done properly, safely and under supervision? How to find a dentist.

Thanx for the helpful advice Toothsmith I really appreciate it.
I did not realise that some of these whiteners would take the enamel off teeth
The whitestrips that I am now looking at contain 14% Hydrogen Peroxide. is this OK to use safely. The strips are meant to be worn twice a day for 30 mins.
In the future I may well consider having it done by a dentist but it will take a bit of saving!0 -
