My (private) dentist is quoting £295 for the procedure - i.e making the teeth impressions. This is for the system in which you have a gel that goes in the sheilds (over the teeth) for a few hours an evening.

Anyone have any feedback on this.

    Thanks.

Hi - my dentist (private) is quoting offer of £295 for the teeth impressions, syringe etc for use with carbamide peroxide gel (£15 a tube).

Does this procedure work okay and is the price good?

    Thanks a lot.

I could be wrong but I think the price may be a bit steep
I am using crest whiestrips supreme, which I bought off ebay, I am on my 3rd day of a 21 day pack and am already thrilled with the results. only £30 and they are 14% hydrogen peroxide, worth considering. also there are some decent mouthguard kits out there on the net. see some of the ones mentioned above for example

I'm certainly going to take a look at Crest strips, having looked through most of this thread as someone who has been considering having my teeth bleached for some time.

I also agree with scale & polish which will cost around £15 with other tratment, if you have a NHS dentist. I've just had mine done as I do every 6-12 months & it makes a great difference, I dont have an electric toothbursh but think I will get one soon.

Clynymn toothpaste & Eucril tooth powder? which are aimed at smokers are also very cheap & great for stain removal, even if you don't smoke.

I don't think it's unusual to pay between £300 & £500 for tooth whitening by a proffesional, which frankly is a rip off & no wonder some resort to cheap & possibly dangerous ebay products, when faced with such big price difference.

I bought an ebay product myself some years ago but when I thought about it, decided against using it, as I really did not know what or how much etc it contained or if it might be dangerous or not.

No you cannot buy them in UK, apparantly we have stringent rules on peroxide products so the levels necessary for these products to work are not allowed.

I looked on eBay and must say I was not bowled over by the selection - most were out-of-date and is it really worth the risk?

I know (in my case) it will cost £295 - at least it is done professionally, the mouth tray if for MY mouth and not a generic one, and the on-going costs (tubes of gel) is cheaper than the strips.

    Unsure still!

Try https://www.dentist.net I have been using them for ages, and the service is excellent and as secure as anything can be in this day and age!

I don't buy whitestrips, but use dentist.net for buying replacement syringes for my dentist made bleaching trays. I buy 16% excel nite white and get very good results. It is about one third of the price of the ones sold by my dentist. He knows I buy them from the internet and doesn't mind. In fact I actually told him I don't mind paying him for his expertise and time, (the original bleaching kit cost £250) but I don't want to pay £150 just for some plastic syringes with a bit of bleach in them!! :D He found that pretty funny and we're still on good terms ;)
 My glass is half full

My dentist will charge me £295 for the trays and some tubes of the gel and thereafter £17 for a tube - good prices I thought ... ?
