Just see your dentist it's the most effective method and there are safeguards if anything unexpected happens. The lowest price does not make something the cheapest

I found these: Roots Dental Lab on ebay and I was going to go for it - seems really reasonable. Just needed to buy the whitening then.

You do seem to be a fan of Roots Dental, what experiences have you had with them in the past?

As in the article above which are urging trading standards to take action and for people such as amazon, eBay to stop advertising these products, but this is having variable effect.

Many people have had permanently damaged gums and teeth from kits bought off the Internet. As it is illegal to sell these products here it is a honeypot for dodgy businesses.

Also there are many dental conditions which make it very unwise to use these kits so buying without a dentists supervision is not a wise move.

Trading standards have recently raided suppliers of whitening products in the uk .

I suppose I am a fan - they made a mouthguard for my husband (he grinds his teeth at night - or at least he did!) and we found their service and product to be excellent and at a cost to match our budget.

I fancied whitening my teeth. Now I'm no longer smoking I decided I needed a treat!

    I've been Money Tipped!
The whitening products that can be sold legally over the counter in this country are pretty unlikely to make a noticeable difference to your teeth - there are really strict rules here about the contents of such products in the UK.

There are still some places selling home whitening kits with above legal limit peroxide content (products that are legal in North America but fail standards here) but they are risky in their genuine form and I expect a lot of what you see on sale is actually counterfeit so no hygiene/quality control in the manufacture.
Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!

With the money you're saving by not smoking, you could easily afford to have it done properly and safely at the dentist - and even a few hygienist appointments to help repair the damage done to your gums by smoking.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

Was just wondering if anyone can personally recommend a toothpaste or whitening product that had actually worked for them.

I think the Arm and Hammer ones are great, as is the Beverly Hills.

Crest whitening strips definately work, amazingly well. However, I've heard that products sold in the U.K don't work....the hydrogen peroxide/whatever it is isn't licensed in Europe/legal at the higher doses it's sold in the U.S.
Whenever I'm in the U.S, I get crest white strips, or crest whitestrips premium. I usually get them in the sale in target, for around $30 or less. Crest vivid white , also sold in the U.S, is fantastic too, and is only around $6. You can buy the products on ebay I think if you aren't going to the U.S any time soon.
In the U.K, blanx toothpaste works really well too, and is around £6...however they will only restore natural whiteness, e.g remove stains, I don't think it will whiten anymore than your natural colour.

Other than, I'd say you have to go to a dentist to get professional whitening. As far as I know no products sold over the counter in the UK actually work.
