My contract is ending-what happens now?

Hi,
I have a contract with Carphone Warehouse - I have an e616 using 3.

I've never had a contract before.

I sent back all the phone bills I was supposed to and received my cashback - Yesss.

No, what I want to know is, when the 12 months is up does the sim card stop working or will it carry on and do I get billed for the phone calls I make every month.

Because I've never had a contract before I'm a bit green.

Thanks for any replies.
All credit cards paid off.

Your contract will continue exactly as it is. You will continue to pay exactly the same line rental as you are doing at the moment.

    You can therefore;
    1. Cancel by giving 30 days notice to whoever bills you - you don't say which network it is. You can then take out a new contract which a lot of people do to get a new phone or a better deal.

    2. You can stay on the same network and upgrade but that is usually more expensive than taking out a new contract.

    Hi 2005Claire,

One important point, once the 12 month period has ended. I dont think you will be disconnected automatically from the network. If THREE does not receive any instruction from you, they will assume you wish to continue and continue with charging you everymonth.

So call THREE customer service 30 days before the 12 month contract end and say you do not wish to continue with them after this 12 month contract.

Start looking for other deal :D

Carphonewarehouse will probably start calling you when the time is close to offer you various deal.

I've just come off the phone to them - wow, talk about hard sell lol

I stuck to my guns and cancelled completely. Hope I did the right thing - they offered me an upgrade, lower rental charges, said that I could keep my number etc.

I do like the number I have but when they said I could keep it as a pay as you go number they said I couldn't cancel the contract for an extra 7 days - I think that's what they said - so I just cancelled the whole thing.

The last day os 10th April, so should I look for a new phone and a new contract then?

You could start looking now and see what deals are available. If you don't like them you could phone back 3 and renegotiate even though you have cancelled.

What were you offered to stay?

They offered me an upgraded phone - not sure what that would be - (but I went on their website and I think it offered me a Rzor-is that what they are called)?

They also said 1st 3 months rental half price and I can have the thing where I send the bills back and I can have cashback.

I do like the phone I have - although I know it's very unfashionable - it takes great pics, has video on it and I have never had a problem with reception.

If you like the phone you could have asked what they could give you for not upgrading your phone. Some people have ended up with a credit on their account which could then be used to pay your line rental.

Well, what I was thinking of doing is keeping this phone I have, taking another contract out next month - that way I get cashback from 1 of the sites - and I could sell the new phone and use the sim card in the old phone - is that allowed?

I sent all the phonebills back and got my cheques everytime - so really the phone and calls have cost me nothing for a whole year.

Yes that's allowed. You would have to make sure your phone is unlocked to allow you to use whatever sim you want. Or take out another deal with 3.

Sounds good as long as you're happy with cashback deals.

Also meant to say you can take your number with you to another network by asking 3 for your PAC (Port authorisation code). When you take out your new contract you give them the PAC and they will transfer your number over in about a week. At the point of transfer your contract with 3 automatically ends.

I've looked on Carphone W and they have a deal on a Sony E W800i - it's on Vodaphone so I take it I couldn't use the sim card in my e616 because it's a 3 phone - is that right? It's just that I looked on eBay and the W800i are selling for a HUGE amount.
