I have around 2k going into the account each month so that part is OK. Have an overdraft of £200 and never been over that or anything. My credit isnt fantastic, but managed to get the Plus account in Dec last year so we will see i guess!

If you have only been with HSBC since December 08 which is just 4 months this will not give HSBC a long enough internal credit history to assess you on. Have you ask them what your behaviour score is

Not sure about the mandated income bit. They gave me a credit card without having an HSBC account. £5K limit. Got their "standard" card, though I think I applied for a posher one.

Didn't have to ring them, but had to send back a signed agreement which they posted to me.

Gawd, didnt think to read back the thread lol

I didnt bother mate cos I got the BOI and Citi ones and to be honest I will just spend on it. Being I bank with them I may wait til the others are maxed out then go for it, maybe they will give better limit too..... i'll keep letter and use in my defence in the future..... I still think they do a search but nowhere does it say it - it says preapproved.... (ahhh just spotted 'subject to status' asterisk -)

Pre-apporved? Any chance of scanning the letter so I can see what I am waiting for! ;)

Surley if it's pre-approved and you only have to have bankrupcy checks you can accept it?

I asked for an increase on my HSBC credit card of 2 years. They declined and said I wouldn't therefore qualify for a loan ether (not that I wanted one)

I have been with hsbc for 7 years, never had any overdrawn charges, have an ISA and savings account with them. Have £940 a month paid in and no other debts and always make my credit card payments on time, never defaulted and most months paid in full.

I was told because of this I am not wanted by any credit card companies as they would not make any money out of me!
