My line still bears the unholy tag. I've tried a couple of other leads, but I'm not hopeful. The cynical side of me wonders if BT is doing this to bully me into subscribing to their subpar broadband packages.0

Depending on how desperate you are to get broadband you could try Andrews & Arnold. Probably not the cheapest but they guarantee to get your line working or your money back - http://aaisp.net.uk/broadband-trial.html
Won't be cheap but they do 1 month contracts so at least you might get a service up and running and could migrate fairly quickly.
Not how the system should work and really not good enough from all concerned but failling all else might be worth a shot.0 -

For a small ISP they have quite possibly some of the worst staff i've ever had the pleasure of experiencing.0 -
I would delete your number from these public pages rapidly, or you will end up being targeted by spam callers.0

I really appreciate your help. I am trying to get broadband with BT for the last 6 weeks and there seems to be a tag on my line. I have been calling BT customer service, BT.com etc.. almost daily to get this fixed. They have been talking to back office, the tag seems to be still there. The last person whom I spoke told me that the tags have been removed by BT wholesale, but the retail system still asking for a MAC code. I have also emailed a complaint to BT, but no response yet). My landline number is X*X*X*X*X*X.
You should remove your landline number from this open forum asap.
To answer your question, your line has a Be broadband LLU tag on it. Which is odd as your line isn't in a Be broadband LLU area. Why not contact them and let them know of the problem? They may need you to prove you 'own' the landline before they remove the tag.0 -

Thanks. I know this and BT tell me whenever I call them. I have contacted Be unlimited and they have initially refused to help me as i am not their customer. Later, they have requested BT wholesale to remove the tag. I have also contacted offcom who said the tag has to be removed by BT retail as I am trying to become their customer. The fact is the tag has been removed from line in BT openreach and wholesale systems(which i managed to verify through other contacts in these offices), but still showing up in retail system. BT retail say this has to be resolved by provisions department. for the last 2 weeks they have been emailing them, but no response.0
