Buying new Desktop, want XP not Vista

Windows 7 does in my experience negate the requirement for serious hardware upgrades.
So people who need to upgrade their hardware to use Vista won't need to upgrade the same hardware to run Windows 7 instead?
Hardware that is incompatible with vista will be compatible with Windows 7?And I'd suggest that not a lot of *proper* organisations will be sticking on an unsupported OS like XP for too long.
I think you'd be surprised. I used to work for the civil service, and some of their computers were absolutely ancient. The reason being, they invest hundreds of millions of pounds in bespoke software, and don't really consider it in their interests to upgrade anything if it works as it is.That situation isn't going to get any better as time goes on though is it?
No, it's not. Which is why companies upgrade their software when they have to, not because they can. Just because Microsoft release a new OS, it doesn't mean every company in the world is going to fall over themselves to try it out on all their computers for a bit of a laugh.
I would have thought Vista adequately demonstrated that.0 -

Seriously theres nothing wrong with Vista.
XP machines will be expensive because there's not may people selling them.
Any Vista user will tell you that you have to keep giving permission when doing stuff on your computer. This essentially keeps your computer safe from unsrupulous programs doing things they shouldn't.
A program written for XP does not know how to ask the OS for permission so it get denied access. You can manually give access by right-clicking and running as administrator. This negates 95% if not 99% of all compatiablity issues.0
