My old landlord was pretty good. He let me decorate what I wanted, how I wanted. He came round and done the gardens even though we never paid him for it.
He bought us Christmas and Birthday presents, and brought presents round for the dogs, whenever he turned up
Plus made sure the house was up to code. I liked him alot. Never met or spoke to my current LL, all done through the agency.I know my spelling is shocking  It is alot better than it used to be though :rotfl:0 -
Our last landlord was fantastic. It was a 1960s flat with all the original furnishings and fittings, like Murano glass light shades etc, in great condition, but as a single guy it was a bit grubby in the corners. He was really kind, and when he came round about a week after we moved in he was over the moon at my old style cleaning of the vintage flat.
DH lodges in London, and his LL is pretty great too. She's ok with me having the occasional night there...its incredibly rare though, and although its a Mon-Fri arrangement is totally fine when DH has to work weekends with him being there. She places no onerous restrictions on use of appliances.0 -
Nope. Mine is an idiot.0

mine is great, never bothers me only when something needs repairing and it is always done within a week i normally see him once a year when the contract is due to be renewed0

I've not really had great luck with landlords...my first LL was a complete twonk - the washing machine never worked from day one and he refused to repair/replace it. My 2nd LL (a student LL) was just as bad - the accommodation included Internet which never worked because they were trying to share a 10MB broadband connection between 36 people and my current LL (a student LL) is absolutely useless - we've got cracked windows and a rotten back door and her response is always 'it's down to the insurance company to fix it'
Hope my next LL is better

36 people! I remember my friends flat tried to share something like that between the 4 of them and even that was a problem.0 -
My last two landlords have been good. I've never had a really bad one touch wood.0

Our current one is fab.
Other half reported the fridge wasn't working as well as it should a couple of years ago, within a week he had a brand new fridge. We wanted some more space in the kitchen earlier this year and we bought some shelves from Ikea, she got her handyman to come round and put them up for us at no cost. And when our dishwasher packed in (not part of the fixtures of the flat) we called her up and her handyman and her brother came round to fix it. When my other half asked how much they wanted they said 'oh no charge, it was fun fixing it' so we dropped them round a couple of beers to say thank you.
Wish she'd do something about our !!!!!! neighbours upstairs but that won't happen for the moment as the neighbours are in dispute with our landlady over her renovations and the amount of noise they're making.0 -
Yeah, tell me about it. I'm an IT Technician and Website Developer and the Internet is quite crucial - had to go and buy a mobile broadband dongle in the end.clickclash wrote: »36 people! My previous landlord was a little bit slow and I had to chase him for everything but after all wasn't bad. He visited the flat only once in 3.5 years to inspect work of builders.
My current landlord/agency is good. When heating broke they sent us their engineer the same day and diagnosed the fault. Agency brought portable heaters and offered rent discount until the problem is fixed.
When our toilet was flooded plumber came in 1 hour from my phone call. I couldn't get better service if it was my own flat and I had to arrange for everything myself. I hope I will be able to stay here for a couple of years.0
