From a personal point of view, I don't like the idea of living in a country with a high population density, where its green spaces are either concreted over or used for farmland.

Ironically, if it continues, my partner and I may up sticks and move to a more spacious one with stronger border control, perhaps Australia for example.

We are both well educated and highly skilled - precisely the type of people the country should be trying to retain.

This is pretty much how we feel, but, OTH, we are beneficiaries of immigration, as are a phenominal number of ''Brits''. We've also worked and lived abroad, and part of DH's skill set for work is his work abroad and social and liguistic understanding in many countries. I'd rather live with motivated, braodly like minded people, proud of what Britain is whether Brtish by birh or design, than people who are ...well, otherwise.

    ALERT ALERT ALERT!!!!!

    Racist bigot on the loose.

Just because Dervish has the courage to raise these issues doesnt mean he is racist. it's almost a crime to even utter the word 'immigration' within a negative statement these days.

Dervish should be hailed as one of the great MSE champions for free speech and free thinking.

It's a shame Dervish wasnt in the goverment, he'd soon sort it all out.

I respect Dervish's (who is a she btw) right to spew her racist bile, I also respect everyone else's right to highlight the fact she lives in cloud cuckoo land.

    Spot on.

The biggest problems with political correctness is that it refuses to recognise people's right to hold unpleasant opinions and it doesn't allow that people need to argue things over without the outcome of the barney being set in advance.

your not even living in this country generali and so you shouldnt be allowed to comment on anything here. your not bothered about immigration because your one yourself. you dont care what happens in the Uk anymore, in fact the worst it gets here the better because you can tell yourself that you were right to leave if it gets crappier. you should all leave dervish alone and look at your own failings and he does is stand up for britian and the rights of british people.

    ok, well that's me told.

    1. Perhaps I won't post any more.
    2. Perhaps I'll ignore you because, let's face it, you're a bit of an arrogant prrrrickkkk.

Hmmmm well I think I'll pick no 2 and carry on leaving you to pick up after my own failings.

PS I am still British. I have a UK passport, I pay some UK tax and (for the BNP lovers) I'm white and hate you for being white !

"In 2005 net immigration was 185,000"

I don't think we can trust these figures, it must have been about that year when the Customs union was claiming 250,000 illegal immigrants; even allowing for their vested interest, the figures must have been high.

I was shicked and dismayed to see that IMMIGRATION was completely ignored in the budget.

Surely one way to redress the current fiscal inequalities would be to ensure that immigrants cannot just waltz over here and acrue a wage and take it back out of the country again.

A end to immigratyion would save this country BILLIONS and start to heal the massive social divides and tragedies that have occrurred with undchecked immigration. Justr look at the huge social issues in Burnley, Oldham, Mnachester etc. These race wars have been caused by just letting in anyone and not thinking about how it affaects the indigioeous population.

I am saddened that the goverment have again bottled this issue. :(
