I have just been pricing up Karndean flooring and have found www.flooringsupplies.co.uk to be quite cheap BUT I have not used them yet.

Karndean has several different products with different thicknesses of "wear layer" - hence the different prices.

Knight Tile is the least expensive, with a 3mm layer and an expected life of 12 years. Van Gogh is 0.5mm and 15 years. Top of the range is Da Vinci with 0.7mm and 20years. So, if you're buying it on price - stick to the Knight Tile.

Amtico has a 1.0mm layer and is guaranteed for 20 years - but they also have less expensive options in their Spacia ranges (with thinner wear layers).

MSE members will, of course, shop around - but make sure you're comparing like with like.

  • Hi Guys, I have just come across this old thread. We supply and install both these floors and there were major changes in the products and warranties for both Amtico and Karndean in 2010. Please check their websites or speak to any reputable company for some up to date advice or you might find you will invalidate your warranty. Both are great products but after all you are paying for the warranty - shame to invalidate it for not using the right glue etc!
  • The website appears to have a broken link so is unusable. I am considering having Karndean installed in the hall. Unfortunately the floor is very uneaven but hopefully the fitter (viewing tomorrow) can suggest a solution. I had Amtico in my kitchen at the last house for over 30 years and it still looked like new after using the recommended cleaning product (Chateau design). However, cost is now a consideration. Will I get a realistic wood?
